I think the kids in the 2019 timeline were the most confusing to keep track of who was the offspring of who as they were all just generic children with not much to differentiate them.

black mirror: vapid, poorly written bollocks on a stick. banksy - the tv series. avoid.
inside number 9: a work of sublime genius. worth the license fee alone.

Travellers. up and down s1, got better towards the finale, then bang s2 was a non stop ride until its end. sweet
hard sun on bbc - was it me or were the 2 main characters totally week. the "i'm a bad cop so i sit laid back with my mouth open and talk gravelly"

@greenhell, yes, great Black Mirror review, I’m in full agreement.
Here’s how the writing process works: think of a future technology; badgers that give tuberculosis to racist farmers because the short sighted neoliberal government really hates racism. Think of the twist; young farmer innocently online researches the kkk as part of a school project.
Final scene; non-racist dies a horrible painful TB death.200,000 pounds please netflix, there’s your next fucking episode.

that actually sounds pretty interesting.

Re: BM, I've always thought that they start with an amateur short film's worth of material, then give it a budget and drag it out to an hour. Shame it's there and hogging the cash really because you get better ideas from the 48hr sci-fi film comp.

I agree with all of the above. The rest of S4 can do one after that Ep1 whopper.

I've never seen any of Black Mirror and keep thinking I should. Are the first (pre-Netflix) seasons like that too?

Hard Sun - only seen e01 so far and I thought it opened as a fairly serious drama but then turned into Spooks. The 'hacker graphics' are a particular pet hate. Good use of locations though including one scene in West Norwood.

Any The Wire fans watching/watched The Deuce?
Have seen six of the eight episodes so far and can't make up my mind if I really like it or not. I can tell I'm watching properly good TV, but (so far) it doesn't grip my like The Wire did when I watched it. Maybe it's too early to tell and not entirely fair to compare one season versus a completed show. It ticks all the boxes though.

I liked the deuce, but I also liked black mirror, especially the first one of this series, so what do I know?

Finally, the backlash... I've never seen the appeal, people seem to cream their pants over it...

Not seen the Deuce but just rewatched Generation Kill. Recommended if you've not seen it.

The pig fucker episode was good, can't remember any others.

I haven't; thanks for the tip.
Have to catch up on Simon's post The Wire stuff. Treme is supposed to be good as well. Have you seen it?

Couldn't get into it. Not enough drama for me.

Was OK whilst John Goodman was in it, but all a bit too much jazz in it. Including a number of scenes which are little more than promos for Allan Toussaint and Kermit Ruffins.
it will get renewed given the way the series ended
