I tried to watch the wire last year, every episode was mind numbingly boring & dated. Kept waiting for the seminal televisual masterpiece that everyone raves about to show itself, after about about 5 episodes, each one as uninteresting as the last. I gave up.

That Widower three-parter on itv was so creepy, I suppose mainly because it's based on the true crimes of convicted murderer Malcolm Webster.
This^^ !!!
Especially after ep 1, Skullette and I kept saying creepily to each other things like
'Let me make you a cup of tea'
(while shaking a sports drink bottle) 'Here, drink more fluids, you need to stop dehydration'
'it's probably just a virus'
'You need to keep your strength up'I thought the lead was really well acted, so good at showing how manipulative psychos dodge the radar ...

Is there a normal bar somewhere central which will have the Tour of Flanders on the telly?
I know it will be on at that Rapha place on the edge of Soho, but I'd rather go somewhere a bit less, well, rapha-ish, to be honest. -

Maybe Bar Italia... LMNH is your best bet...

There are just so many! And lots of doggy style sex scenes... I guess it's perfect for the camera, the characters can still do dialogue while getting down to business...

#notaprudebyanystretchoftheimaginationMy last workshop at college was about good and bad sex in literature and film.
I think the reason sex is so difficult to depict is that sexual desire is universal, it is a leveller of character. We don't learn much about a character by seeing them fuck, or by seeing their tits. The best stories are character driven, and if sex is added to a plot without it being significant to that character, it's going to come across as cloying.
Think about other universal, physical necessities– how often do we see people taking a shit on tv? If you dropped a shit scene into every game of thrones episode, it would start to seem like it was simply put there to shock. I'm sure there are problems with this analogy, but I hope you can see my point.
Alot of people would probably call me a prude. I find graphic depictions of sex usually quite boring. But that is because they usually dont serve the plot / character, or they have been put in to try and make a weak plot more interesting.
I have not seen game of thrones.

Interesting. If sexual desire is a leveller, the act of sex is definitely not, particularly on the silver/big screen, where sex really does sell.If the male characters had to randomly flash their bits at the camera, it would seem ridiculous and viewers would complain.
