No, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was as good as Catterick but it is good.

Fuck off back to where you came from. In other news, Archer is back!
I had a bloody mary for breakfast to celebrate

I really enjoyed this too! More for the actors than anything else.
On paper the plot looks fairly standard, so you know exactly where it's going, but there was something fresh and engaging about it - the way it's shot, the script, the sense that there's going to be a dreadful fallout, the awkward lead in to the first bedroom scene. There's also a gripping tension between the characters' ordinary daily lives (which we could all relate to on some level), and their exciting and lusty secret activities, dependent on train schedules, and smartphones.
Olivia Coleman is excellent, as ever, considering her boring role, and David Morrissey definitely has the DILF factor.
Bonus points for it making public transport sound almost exciting!
Anyone catch the 7.39?
I would stay up all night just to pick the fluff from Sheridan Smith's washing machine.

Anyone recommend a counselling service for someone who watched "What happens in Sunny Beach" last night? Asking for a friend.
-
• #1233
^ A "friend" of mine also somehow ended up watching Sunny Beach last night - solid proof the human race is devolving, they should send the scientists out there to investigate.

My friend also, accidentally watched this.
"Yeah, because if you go on holiday you can do anything and you'll never see these people again so it doesn't matter coz noone will know, innit"
Apart from however many 100's of thousands of people watched the show on National TV.

Ep 2 - smouldering on. Still not sure where it is going. A good watch.
True Detective
HBO series, really slow burn but setting up a few story lines. You can feel the heat and tension. Looking forward to the rest.

anyone see those mentalist crane climbing/hanging guys last night on C4?
-
• #1237
Rock climbing, base jumping, parkour etc I can understand, but I just found that show a bit depressing really. That Ukrainian guy seemed to be a fatalist.

'The Following' - Inexplicably, this unadulterated bilge has begun its second season.
I find myself watching it again. Fuck knows why.

anyone see those mentalist crane climbing/hanging guys last night on C4?
I couldn't - even the trailer gave me sweaty palms because of the height. I'm getting it now just thinking about it!

That Ukrainian guy seemed to be a fatalist.
yes and the young guy from the UK knew it - you could tell he wasn't that far gone mentally
-
• #1242
^ Just watched that, pretty stomach-turning at times. I wonder how long the Ukranian guy has got left....
His comment about thinking of salad when hanging off a 100m crane made me do a little LOL though

Anyone watch Helix on 5 last night? Virus outbreak at a facility in the South Pole, people becoming infected and getting super human strength, etc, etc.
Meh. Could have been so much better.
The music running all the way through it ruined and suspense and jumpy moments for me.

• #1244
is that what it was? i thought it was the ropey remake of 'the thing' before i gave up and turned in.
-
• #1245
Exactly, it wasn't worth the 11:50 bed time. Not sure I'll watch it next week.

Has anyone been watching the Autopsy series on C5, looking at the last few hours of the lives of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston etc.? Pretty trashy but compelling viewing and so sad!

So Community is good again. In case anyone was wondering.

Brooker's Weekly Wipe
can be very good. This week was a bit limp though- too much of the shit tv he was criticising, not enough of the original material / acerbic commentary.
-
• #1250
Next week: little floors that transport you to bigger floors.
(or whatever).
I think Limmy(?) is pretty much the weakest part. Minutes spent poorly dragging out a pretty mundane joke (which, by the looks of it, is going to be the same joke every week).
Is it as good as Catterick?
