i dont know if I trust Enviolo more than a shimano RD, no first hand experience but shimano is "bomb proof"

I have bad experience with enviolo, but that’s with commercial use. Prob fine for less intensive purposes.

Nexus/Alfine 8 are OK (newer versions) if shifted with some mechanical sympathy (turn off auto shift on the Di2 if it has it). Nexus 7 usually arrive broken, never heard of one lasting any more than a few months on any bike TBH, seem to be made of that italian rock dust type cheese.
Envilio/Nuvinci/infinite type hubs, variable (ha!), for regular bikes/hybrid with a mid drive are fine, but for cargo and folk with some mechanical sympathy they'll be OK, hard users, nope, avoid. -

More functionality. Will I keep finding myself is a massive gear at junctions.

I’m sure everyone is already aware of the new 40% eCargo bike grant but just in case here it is
-
• #7716
I wasn't, and that's brilliant!

The scheme seems like a nice idea to promote their use, but what kind of two-wheeled e-cargo bike can one buy for a maximum of £2,500?

only for institutions not individuals right?

"The scheme is only open to organisations, not individuals." and only in England, not Scotland nor Wales.

yeah so useless to most of us, Tories love incentivising well off people, y no grants for the squeezed middle class families?
-
• #7721
They should be encouraging the use of two wheelers using the same incentive. Don’t know why they have differentiated tbh. I think this will encourage a lot of businesses to get potentially the wrong kind of bike for their needs.
Obviously I still welcome it and hope it brings more businesses into the fold!

its in dormancy now but i ran the math pre-grant, doesent work out well. 0% credit card was the winner.
-
• #7724
I read it as a maximum grant value of £2.5k. I.e. if you bought a cargo bike up to £6.25k you would still get 40% off.
-
• #7725
Yeah it’s this not a £2.5k e bike, the last one was only 20% up to £1k so this is an improvement
Delivery date for my packster has been brought in by 3 weeks. Now expected to be at the dealer next week. Much much excitement.
I went for the touring with the rd as I couldn't stretch to an extra £600 or so for the hub gear and gates drive. I suppose if the rd is a pain I will switch in a nexus 8 speed. Will need to check the warranty tho.
