Hi there I have a question about putting cargo on an urban arrow XL if anyone can help me.
On the Bullitt you cannot put an endless ratchet strap around cargo and near the rear of the cargo area, as the kickstand when it's up would interfere with the cargo strap.
therefore I have to use j-hooks type cargo lashing when attaching cargo, that goes towards the rear of the bullet cargo area.
I cannot find a diagram of the urban arrow XL underside. So I'm just wondering what is the optimal way to temporarily attach a large cargo load into the cargo area of the XL. Do we need the endless ratcheted straps, or will j-hooks attach on to the frame somehow?

Do you have any sort of bed on there?

I wonder if a ratchet strap with a hooked end would work? Hooked on the edge of the platform. Kind of tricky to say without seeing it!

Would there be a problem with using an endless strap?

You would just have to avoid the steering arm I think.

Is the steering arm like that of a Bullitt?
You can pass an endless strap through the gap between the frame and steering arm on a Bullitt when loading cargo towards the front end. If you try to load something with j-hook straps near the front onto a Bullitt, the steering arm gets interfered with.
If anyone has a pic of the underside of an urban arrow XL that would be really helpful!

Yeah, this. If you can wait until Monday I can get a photo of the underside! (Last bit directed at dubkev)

That would be great thank you!

I'll set a reminder but please give me a nudge if you haven't heard by mid afternoon! Ours have custom flat beds on but should give you an idea of the underside of the actual bike if nothing else.

Any folks here in South/East London got a small/medium cargo bike I could borrow for tomorrow (Sunday) evening?
Plan is to help Refugee Community Kitchen move stuff around from prep to distribution in Brixton
Would triple lock your bike if stored outside at any point and return it the same evening, can offer my own bike up as deposit

Thanks, had a look at it and whilst it's promising of the council, it has a cabin limiting the cargo space
Should have put some more details - would be transporting 2x folded trellis tables and a couple 60-80L pots plus some tea urns, ideally in one go (although I could cargo backpack some of that) hence something omnium style would be ideal

I reckon with some creative use of ratchet straps you could make that work!

Although I'm struggling to picture the size of the urns so maybe not.

urns I could backpack, but think I'd need a flatbed style bike with straps for the tables

I think with some padding on the edge of the bucket thing on front to stop scratches, you'd probably be alright as long as the load doesn't foul the bars you know. That's assuming I've got a rough idea of what the bike looks like from the illustration on the link above.
I used to do this sort of thing, strapped down with just inner tubes though so I'm probably not to be trusted in terms of what is and isn't a good idea. Obviously a flat bed would be a better bet if you can source one but in a pinch you might be able to make the council bike work.

Have you got in touch with Lambeth Council? They / we have electric cargos etc etc

It’s for today though right?
What time are you hoping to use one - I need to check what time I’m required to be dad taxi. -
• #13497
Yeah it would be for today, but don't worry about it, thanks all
I think someone within the org is very close to subbing in with a car so they're sorted

Ok. Let me find out about Lambeth bikes this week as it used to be someone called Joel who was the guy to get in touch with directly. But they’re off doing something round Surrey Quays now.

N+1 for cargo bikes too right? Lol
300€ Impulse buy on marketplace after work, will replace our nihola for hauling large and awkward things. Display and battery are toast.

Ah, that makes sense!
