  • Ah that makes sense, you read card good

  • There was previous discussion about bringing a bike battery into the house in sub-zero temperatures.

How warm does it have to be before it can stay in the garage?

  • That is (probably un)shockingly close to my real world experience over the winter.

  • According to Bosch training, what you don't want to do is put your battery away empty and into sub-zero conditions. If it's charged, you'll be fine in the UK in the garage for almost all but the worst days (and fine on those, tbh). If it gets to zero percent battery (they actually indicate zero at about 6%) then the battery dies and can't come back. They typically lose about 1% or less per month, but this can double or triple in really cold weather.

  • Disclaimer: Am retailer for Tern.
I find the chonky tyres on the bikes makes it fairly easy to get up steps. Use the walk mode. If it's something you're doing regularly you can get pretty cheap and unobtrusive motorbike ramps. Depends on the stairs, of course, but with a bit of walk mode engaged I find I can get up steps OK in general.

  • Neat, thanks for the info.

  • If you're interested, my work could sell you a cheap, second hand (but literally never used) motorbike ramp that folds up. Bought them to load (non cargo) e-bikes in to the back of our vans but all the drivers prefer just lift them straight in.

  • I’d be interested to see a picture of this ramp, if angelos doesn’t want it?

  • I am not in a hurry so feel free to offer to @Chalfie

  • We have multiple! I'm pretty certain it's this one.

  • Dad Wagon morphing into commuting mode now that I am back going to the office two days a week. Ordinarily the Hamax would be left at the childminders after drop off, but there were different plans this morning. Removed the eurocrate from the front to allow the strapping of a bag with office kit/clothing. Old messenger bag is not cutting it so have ordered a probably comically large roll top dry duffle to replace it. That will either strap across the front rack or go into the storm box on the back when the Hamax is not present.

  • Where are the rocket launchers?

  • They only come on the buyer R14 model

  • Ahhh

  • This is de riguer for the College Road peleton massive

  • yeah man Neko Home delivery has one, we grabbed it from SBC when we heard they dropped a quick limited release through the dealers, they only have the organic powered ones available atm and in select colours but if you try hard enough you might be able to snag one soon. SBC were great in helping us out and getting it in. We've done an e bike conversion on ours for the heavy weights we are dealing with. If your interested to talk a bit more about the xl let me know in pm, i work there. The extra space is an absolute game changer in terms of extra volume, and the bike rides just as great as ever

  • catch me on the A23

  • Thanks for this. Was just chatting with my partner last night about it, she says to me "but if it's longer then how are you going to make that turn at the side laneway to lock it up?"

So that plan is dead in the water before it even got going. :-(

  • Been out and about a fair bit on the big fat dummy, delivering the kids to here and there. Enjoying all the “look at that weird massive bike, isn’t that cool?” chat from randoms. Because yes, it is cool, thank you.

Have a sheet of alu that I need to dremel up so that I can secure the bafang battery, but it’s slow going alongside a couple of other non-bike house projects. Easter holiday childcare provision is up two separate massive hills tho, so that’s focusing the mind a little.
