He's too light, he needs to put more pies in his belly.

  • red ones are heavier chan. #metaphor

  • ..but faster

  • Just fitted my detonators, they arrived a lot quicker than I thought they would, my bike looks very beetlejuice. Going to test them in a bit but am injured so won't be reaching the limits of grip or owt.

  • Hi! Does anybody use transparent PC ( polycarbonate ) sheets/plates as wheel covers?
I want to give it a try but I don't have idea what thickness to choose... to avoid both
    deformation and cracking...
    Any ideas about thickness?

  • I do, mine's 2mm thick... Pretty heavy so I've cut them back quite a bit (too much tbh), but I've still got a coupla sheets left so I'm gonna make some new ones soon... Front is a bit wonkily applied, I've had these since the spring and they've been awesome, no cracking/deformation at all...

  • Superstar component have some mavic 717 like rims up for £16 each on sale, they only come in 32h though.

  • Detonators were good, I reckon they don't roll quite as well as the kojaks, although there is very little in it, they definitely grip better though, so much so I didn't realise how much I was leaning and pedal striked myself to the floor, recommended.

Your process determines your minimum thickness. 1mm is plenty if laser cut. Blunt jigsaw blades would create stresses which become cracks later, even with light impacts.

My teammate made mine at the start of 2013 and mine is still ok. I think it was blade-cut using CNC but the durability varies between batches.

    I thought they were acrylic?

Anyway mine are 0.8mm Polycarbonate. They're light, strong and flexible, I've not had any cracking/ deformation that's noticeable, the only thing to break for me are the zip ties I use to attach the polycarbonate to the wheels.

I can tell you cutting a perfect circle with a stanley knife is massive pain and I'd recommend you try using a drill or something to make holes in it.

  • Anyone using Mavic A319 rims for polo? How have you found them?

  • I used A319's when I was 700. Loved them. Really easy to true, not that you'll need to do it that much.

  • @Emyr
thx... cutting technique impact on durability was obvious thing... that I didn't consider... :)
Now I need to find laser cutter

  • Laser Scissors: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

I use 1mm thick PC, no problem.

Knife+cooker or soldering iron would work, wouldn't it?

  • I used some big scissors on my 2mm stuff, no problems...

  • Or you could get it laser cut...

  • Pew pew.

  • They are teh awesomez...
