  • Helpful as ever Rob ;)

  • I would think slicks, as knobblies could get stuck in a bit and might drag, or maybe very small knobblies like a kenda small block 8 or similar.

  • That looks a pretty terrible surface for polo, but what do I know.

  • thanks Rob

  • Glad I can help ;)

  • Small knobblies? CX Pro 26x1.35 ^^^^^^^^^

  • Touch heavier than I like, but otherwise perfect, I'll buy them just in case. I'm sure I can always sell them on.

    thanks.

  • Kenda Small Block!

  • Does anyone have a 700 x 32 tyre, preferably a RiBMo that I could buy or borrow for just this weekend please?

  • that is the stuff we used for bff paris 2010. it was really cool. nobody used special tyres. For an outdoor tourney though, the moment it would get wet it would be all over.

  • ^this. It was fine indoors with normal tires. Not so sure if it got wet

  • Need some advice on my new wheels. 700c 36H, 3x or 4x? What's best? What spokes? Will be running a cover on the front.

  • Need some advice on my new wheels. What's on trend?

    ftfy.

  • Not green.

  • Traditionally LPC has broadly promoted the Sapim Strong spokes which are 2mm, butted to 2.3mm at the shoulder and threads. Todd has been using DT Swiss 2mm unbutted spokes on his new bike, breaking one for the first time on Saturday.

I'll be using Sapim Leader on my new wheels which are 2mm unbutted/plain gauge as they are easier to find, cheaper and lighter than Sapim Strong; I don't mind replacing spokes and truing my wheels a little.

But if you're riding a 36h wheel, as opposed to 48h, I'd consider Sapim Strong as impacts are less likely to be spread across multiple spokes. Couple that with Green Bike Man's inability to true wheels and it's almost a no-brainer.

  • Sapim force? Butted but thicker at the elbow.

  • I haven't broken any spokes or nipples in my front wheel in the 6 months since I built it. One spoke bent enough for me to bother replacing it.

    Mavic XC717 Disc 32h,
    DT Revolution 2.0-1.5-2.0
    Brass nipples.

My rear wheel was built with DT Competition 2.0-1.8-2.0 a year ago, but with alloy nipples. The corrosion has weakened the nipples making them almost sacrificial. I've been replacing them with brass one by one and this week I had my first spoke break, on a brass nipple.

Most of your wheels are overbuilt.

Except for John H, you brute.

  • no one cares em, we're taking about me here. All me, always about me

  • What's wrong with green wheels?

  • apollo killed 'em

  • Lol... Looks more like a pringle.

  • You formed the T of the bone, GBM.

  • wut? wasn't me, I wasn't even there guv...

  • Couple that with Green Bike Man's inability to true wheels and it's almost a no-brainer.

No need, I have 2 'on board' mechanics on my team. Or I can just bat my lashes at you, fling back my golden locks and get you to do 'em. Tru dat.

  • Sort those roots out and I'm yours, darlin'.
