Used to live at no 35.

As i said - it** appears** from the dent in the railing (red cross) and the location of bloodstains (blue crosses) that the rider and lorry were heading in opposite directions along uxbridge road. However, I think any speculation should stop here.

I personally dont think its right to make assumptions on a situation you where not present at.
As you said its the real world, and in the real world your actions are situational and circumstantial, maybe she cut inside lorry to avoid a bus hitting her on the other side, who knows? you can never know, all we know is these instances are growing quickly so we all need to be caerfull on the road and try not to find ourselves in these situations. things lkike eye contact vocal contact anything it all helps, but sometimes you find your self in a situaiton where you cannot do anything or could not have done anything to prevent it.
im sure we have all been in those situations, mine resulted in a bad knee broken forks and a broken front wheel. -

I witnessed this incident. Had just crossed the Askew Road on foot then heard some absolutely chilling screams behind me. It appears the HGV was turning left from Uxbridge Rd to Old Oak Rd and the cyclist was heading straight on. It seemed like the lorry realised straight away and stopped in the middle of its turn. However I didn't see the lorry's indicators flashing so could well be that the cyclist thought the lorry was going straight on.
Saw the cyclist under the lorry. Looked like she was moving which hopefully is a good sign. If anyone has any updates on the cyclist's condition, please post. Fingers crossed she'll be fine.

It's not called a 'Lifesaver' for nothing. They should make potential car owners/drivers do the motorcycle CBT first. Once you have ridden defensively as a motorcyclist you don't forget to employ those skills. I even do lifesavers when changing lanes in the car!

get fucked. this is the real world, what do you expect if you undertake a lorry. them to blow you kisses.
dale, I don't want to get into an argument with you on this thread, if you have issues with what I wrote pm me.
But I will say we can all jump to conclusions based on our own experiences, points of view, and riding styles, but we don't have all the facts as to what happened in this instance, so being as blunt as you usually are in this instance isn't helpful and brings nothing more to the table, than your lack of empathy/sympathy, and prefacing a statement with I'm sorry but, doesn't make it any easier to swallow, or allow you to spout whichever contrary opinion crosses your mind.As previously noted, pm me any other views you have on this subject.
Hope the rider comes out of this okay.
be well people...

I now do them when walking, and changing direction!

Too early to speculate.

my point is that everyone blames the other person eg this case automatically the driver the HGV. there are as many numpty cyclists as numpty drivers.

This is such sad news again! Hope the riders ok!

Too many accidents - hope the rider is ok!

bloody lorry drivers
Fucking Lorry drivers, hope they're ok.
This is bad news, hoping for the best.
HGV drivers seem to be driving faster since the suns come out.
Yes I've noticed this a lot, fucking cunts often hoon it round tight corners, without a care for other motorists cyclists, peds, or cyclists.

Corny - much as it irks me to agree with Dogsballs, the jumping to conclusions cuts both ways - in fact, on here, it tends to cut just one way. No one knows what happened yet, so the only comments to make are your last two...

that is a weird phenomenon, i kinda do that instinctually, out of paranoia maybe and for the most part it does seem to work...
not weird at all if you think about it, it's all in the eyes. The car is a physical extension of the driver and any attempt to invade that 'space' is often met with the same response as you would expect if someone invaded your personal body space. Communicating with the eyes is the quickest and easiest way to remind others that there is humanity and not just machinery involved...

We must try not to descend into a complete anti-lorry/car/bus mindset, they are as valid a road user as we are.

When is this kind of thing going to STOP!?
Think it's time to resurect the HGV saftey campaign.
Best wishes to the injured party. -

But as some people tend to forget - this is a cycling forum.
