I've got some oldish MD Runner but they're quite chunky. They always look dead nice in pictures but I've never been convinced, though they are really comfy.

Yep, stiff bristled as mentioned upthread.

Got 3 pairs of AM1, all with the plastic heel stiffener either bent or poking through to the heel so they are unwearable. Think it must have been caused by slipping them on and off without untying laces, who knows.

Anyway I chucked them in a cupboard but I want to start wearing them again. Any ideas?
