...didn't someone mention that the feral youth had a strong presence at that gateshead venue ... and i think someone also suggested this basketball court, attached to some 5 a side courts by saltwell park ..,, edendale terrace .. junction of prince consort road and durham road
.. its part of a school ... so not sure about access .... just looked on the street view and it has lights.. actually i'm prolly gonna be too busy to make wednesday anyway

Went by both of them tonight. I think the one john posted is going to be no go. It's pretty ideal. Lights on a switch til 9, decent size. Never seen it without people on though. Also some weird synthetic surface - looks skiddy as fuck. Worth having a look on the way to the other one. Other one, at school, lit, always seems to be open, big, on a bit of a slope, courts are three-sided. Good and bad but I reckon we could play some decent polo on it. Think it's about time we gave it a go anyway, even if there's only four of us.

Welcome home Gav, glad you had fun.
I have some exciting, if slightly short notice news. The guys at the Press Play Festival have been on as Ed mentioned. They would like us to do a demo on Sunday (not sure what time yet) at Hoult's Yard. I'm sure we can pull together a few people and put on a bit of a show right? There's free tickets for the other events in it, should you need an incentive...
I said I'd give a yes or no by tomorrow. So who's in?

5) JohnWhere we playing Wednesday?
For my two-pen'orth, having to travel even further to an unknown court, which I don't even know the location of is a bit of a disincentive. -

Sweet, I'll say yes then. Could do with one more mind.
Yeah Gosforth's fine by me, it's closer to my house too. I know Phil isn't mad on Gateshead either. Was just trying to be a bit proactive on the whole lights thing seen as by next week we'll be lucky to get one game in. Don't know how to link maps but for the record, it's where Nige said.

i'm gonna be away down south on sunday, so won't be able to make the hoults yard thingy .... if you take plenty of spare mallets ... maybe even a spare bike, i'm sure you'll get plenty of volunteers for a 3 on 3.... its gonna be full of bikers
just a discussion point really, but if everyone prefers gossy park, and the only problem is lighting .... then why don't we get our heads together and come up with some lighting solutions ... halogens aren't stupid money .... all that's needed then is a power source, and a means to get it to the event each week and we're sorted.
-
• #1014
yeh we thought about that before. the lights are easy, cheap and portable, its just a power supply we need.... anyone fancy buying and carrying a generator down each week?
-
• #1015
if only someone had a van ! ... bet we could get a jenny quite cheap if we looked around
... guess there's no easy answer .. -
• #1016
nige - positive as always,
not keen on gateshead?..lets just get it done! (next week)
will be down gosforth about 6ish and we should talk bout definitely gettin lit up.. -
• #1017
its maybe a joke place but that sloping car forecourt in scotswood is gonna be good for a laugh i think..tight and lit and covered... matey.
well up for a look me.. -

So... here's the plan for Sunday. Basically as John pointed out last night, it just replaces normal Sunday polo. Gist of the email below:
"There's plenty of space on site, but most of it is sloping to some extent. If you'd like to pop down Rich and I will be there setting up on Saturday between 10am and 3pm? I'm sure we can find a space that works though.
I think the most suitable time for you guys to have a bit of an exhibition match would be after Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and before Rollapaluza gets properly underway (as I hope you guys will be up for taking part!) - so 7:30pm until 8 / 8:30? On the other hand, having the kit and bikes out on display earlier in the day would also be great - but trying to avoid too long a day for you all."
I know a fair few people are up for Rollapaluza so hopefully timings will work out well + gives the Recyke fellas time to grab some food/polo bikes etc. By the looks of it we'll probably playing in front of half of Newcastle's FG population. Should be a really good opportunity to show everyone what it is we're always banging on about + if anyone from the council who might happen to know of a lit court is there, it puts us on the map.
Oh yeah, 1 vote for Sandercock to be the official Newcastle Polo Rollapaluza Representative.

I am in the worst physical state i have ever been. i was, however, born ready - so it'll be reet (i hope you lot are used to disappointment)
-
• #1021
Does anyone know if you can enter Rollapaluza on the night.
-
• #1022
Nay polo for me the morrow, will be on the high seas.
-
• #1023
i'm in ... are we playing at gossy park still, or is the gateshead schoolyard venue the new home for polo ?
curious to see how my recently acquired 1966 rudge sport, takes to the world of polo ... no name for it as yet, but being a rudge, it might just end up as "Mr Dredd"...i do need to start smoking a pipe though
-
• #1024
might be on the tools tomorrow night late..but whats the floodlit venue selected if we get out sharp?
has sanders pulled a hernia on the rollllapalooser or what? -
• #1025
If we're changing venue tomorrow, I need to know where it is pretty sharpish. I'm at recyke-y-bike all day tomorrow, so wont be able to get to a computer.
Good work John and cheers Harvey. 8 balls for £25 sounds like a plan to me. Happy to buy a couple or four depending on how everyone else is feeling.
Anyone want to try this lit Gateshead court on Wednesday for a bit of a change?
