I thought it was pretty good, will be good to see how the other trials go. Would much rather watch an hour or so of racing than an hour of qualifying so it's a net positive for me. Going to be weird blocking out time on a Friday evening for F1 though. Similarly I was only half watching it due to juggling DIY with trying to prevent the toddler getting her mitts on a saw/drill/hammer.
Not sure what the exact rules are around retiring the car but I assume they're allowed to do more than you would normally after parc ferme. Especially as he was carrying damage so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some new suspension components stuck on there.
Good to see Russell finally getting his top 10 after all this time. Hopefully next time it'll be in a race that actually gives points for that position!

I don't know the entire story, in that vid it's impressive, especially the performance of the driver, such a cleanness and smoothness of the racing lines. And yes, the car!

I'm not sure if I'm fully on board with the sprint format; the sprint race was alright & I'm fine with the finishing positions being the start positions for the main race - I just don't think having a full qualifying session on the Friday makes sense as it doesn't leave much room for the order to be mixed up. Maybe just standard practices then 1 flying lap attempt each would make the sprint race actually mean more?

gp order determined by fastest laps in the sprint race might be interesting, keep the racers racing fast till end of the sprint race, some last minute do or die laps on wearing tyres

Is that just not just general qualification but with more people on the track? Drivers could just slow down to make big gaps and then attempt a fast lap run in the later laps when their fuel is lower?

Why is the British GP all about Tom Cruise? This is a new low even for channel 4.

Looked like verstappen turned into a space that wasn’t there
Racing incident for me…
-
• #7861
Hamilton had space on his right, didn't he? And he wasn't ahead of Verstappen?
-
• #7862
Hamilton definitely understeered. Not deliberately but he was miles off the apex, which suggests he'd not slowed sufficiently for the corner.
Hard to call whether that's worthy of a penalty, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
-
• #7863
He was heading for the apex until verstappen hit him
-
• #7864
Difficult - Verstappen had to turn at some point, was leading so what else was he supposed to do?
It was tense wheel to wheel racing up to that point but I think Hamilton was either unlucky with the understeer or got caught with his blood up in that corner.

“It was 100 per cent Max’s corner. As far as I’m concerned, full blame is on Lewis Hamilton."
“I hope you’re gonna deal with it appropriately.”That’s the message from Christian Horner

Max gave plenty of space there, Lewis was nowhere near the apex and understeered into Max. Won't be surprised to see a penalty for Lewis.

It didn't look like that from my sofa, but I'd really like a shot from above :) Looking forward to see what the stewards decide.

Standing start after a red flag seems an odd change.
-
• #7869
Definitely a welcome one though. Would actually prefer it if safety car restarts were just regular standing starts.

Crikey, glad Max is ok. Hope this doesn't swing the championship too much into Hamilton's favour. Max has rarely put a foot wrong whereas Lewis was nowhere in Monaco so the points difference was legit.
Outstanding drive by Leclerc so far.

Feel pretty bad for Leclerc in losing out there, between this and Monaco he hasn't had great luck this season!

Hollywood end to that race.

You know I'm a Lewis fan but that wasn't the result I wanted! Amazing drive by both of them but given the beginning and that not so great interview that won't be one of my favourite Lewis wins.

Lewis I feel this season has come across as a bit of a sore loser and a win at all costs. Not a fan

I thought he took his first few loses of the season well. Other than today's incident where are you getting the "win at all costs" vibe from?
Those lap records they stuck in were crazy. So glad Porsche let them do it after the 919 was retired. The one at Spa was completely insane, the car didn’t look real going round at those speeds!
