I'm really hoping Red Bull and Ric are competing for the WC next year.

I'd love to see Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren all back up at the top again. Damn Mercedes doing their job too well these past few years!

Isn't their partnership meant to be an exclusive deal though? I quite like how they're the only works team with this arrangement but if Honda becoming a supplier for x teams means they make big improvements, that would be good as well. How much of McHonda's problems are down to McLaren's size zero design affecting the engine etc? I don't really know how much the whole package differs to what other teams are doing though.
I do think they will get there eventually. Honda have done this before, they can clearly build winning engines but the last two seasons have been a case of R&D in the public gaze.

It's not exactly a Merc but I don't think the Renault PU is anywhere near as down as it was last season.
Is that measuring Manor Vs Renault though? Considering Renault must have had a head start with Lotus prior to this season maybe a Force India comparison is fairer?

It is exclusive and that is what Ron Dennis fought hard to protect. But this went against Honda's benefit, as they could have ramped up their development so much faster if even Manor and Haas had used Honda units. As for size zero design, I'm not that te chnical enough to answer that, and maybe @gridds might be the better person to field that one.

Renault were actually on the back foot with Lotus last year. The Renault engine is improved but still no where near the merc in terms of weight and power.
If Redbull had a merc pu they'd wipe the floor with the works merc team. -

Not F1 related but Audi are pulling out of Le Mans/WEC :(

Inevitable.
They were up against themselves (Porsche) and promoting diesel fueled cars. With the emissions scandal and the fact that they're beginning to promote the new eTron range, it was always on the cards.

Yeah, I understand their reasoning. They were damn good though.

a shot in the arm for Formula E -i suspect for 2018 series when the manufacturers all start to come in proper, we'll see them on racing circuits, perhaps even places like Singapore and Monaco too!

Am I the only one who's getting a bit irritated at people saying "By the law of averages, Nico is due a mechanical failure"?
Do these people think that because engine 24 has gone pop, that means that engines 27, 48, 10, 29 and 41 are getting ready to go and 9, 13, 37, 12, 7, 12 and 25 are looking pretty safe?
Are the job requirements for a journalist these days solely comprised of having your own pencil or something?

telling the truth doesnt sell papers (or F1 to the masses)

Best qualy position IMO, was 5th place by Hulkenburg (relative to expectations). This must be galling for his Mexican fellow Force India driver Sergio Perez, who must wish he'd got into Q3, since their car was capable.

Really hope Renault can get their act together over the next few seasons, he deserves a great car.

RBR can get the engine to work fine - Renault need good aero guys !

• #5793
And chassis, and suspension I imagine.

I'm calling a podium for Vettel.

• #5795
Maybe not if he's going for the medium tyres...

Ferrari strategists never fail to baffle this season.

Awesome car control by Vettel on Ricciardo, it's a shame he can't control his mouth so well. Can't see that going unpunished.
-
• #5798
...lolz.

RBR had privately contracted Ilmor to get more performance from the Renault unit, then Renault followed up by using them too. So its not really RBR that got the extra performance out of the engine. Their chassis, .......now that a different kettle of fish.

Vettel has made F1 great again.
The Red Bulls don't seem to be suffering all that much from a lack of power this season. It's not exactly a Merc but I don't think the Renault PU is anywhere near as down as it was last season.
Also, must be embarrassing for Massa having just been overtaken in the points by Alonso.
