or just switch on at t-5 and counting
i usually record the race and just forward to the green lightdoes anyone actually watch the preamble ?
-
• #5553
On the Beeb I liked the preamble.
-
• #5554
Like the preamble but hate the gridwalk.
-
• #5555
The grid walk with Brundle on ITV was ok until ITV welched on their contract payments.
-
• #5556
I reckon the drivers have cottoned on to the fact that he's a bit of a bell end too.
-
• #5557
He's not as annoying as Eddie Jordan was IMO, but he's a bit shite for sure.
-
• #5558
Disagree, Eddie was at least able to get some inside info from the team bosses & Bernie.
This guys just as annoying as Eddie but is also a complete nobody.
-
• #5559
As Mick says, Eddie was able to walk through the paddock like he's still a team owner and was still respected by people - he is as mad as a badger though.
This bloke's just agony.
-
• #5560
I got the same reply from C4.
-
• #5561
I might tweet C4 and see what they have to say - take it public FTW!
-
• #5562
I don't know why they bother with the grid walk anyway.
"Yes, Mr. Coulthard/Brundle/Webber/Whomever, this is my team's strategy, and this is my strategy. There you are, now you all know..." (no-one, ever)

I like the pitwalk.
On the few occasions I've managed to blag my way into the pit and paddock areas of race tracks, I've thoroughly enjoyed actually being one of the taller people.
-
• #5564
Unless next year's cars make a significant difference, which they might well do, I'm done. The coverage is sub-par indeed, and the drivers (most, not all, but most) if they have any personality, definitely don't/can't show it. Every interview is the same. They thank their team for doing a great job, tell you something you already knew about the race, touch their cap or their ear a few times to show off their sponsors logos or their £1billion wristwatch, and then fuck off.
Too much politics, not enough racing.

• #5565
Oh, I'm sure actually doing the pit walk would be brilliant! I was in the paddock at Goodwood once, and getting up close to the cars was excellent. And the smell! However, the chasing around of people who don't want to talk to them, I don't understand.

• #5566
Correct - I think Jenson's hilarious.
-
• #5567
Jenson is good. He just laughs at DC for asking stoopid questions.
-
• #5568
I like Jenson as well, comes across as a reasonably down to earth dude.
-
• #5569
I don't mind the relevant interviews, it's the "bumping into a celebrity" bullshit that irks me.
-
• #5570
Had to be done. They don't do the electric chair over here, but that is what Steve Jones deserves for his crimes against sporting decency.
BTW, I also like Eddie Jordan. As a real insider of F1, even though he is overly colourful, he does know a lot, and gets scoops other journalists cannot ever get.

• #5571
Max Verstappen replaces Daniil Kvyat at Red Bull for rest of season!
-
• #5572
hmm, demotion to toro rosso, being put on the naughty step!
-
• #5573
Vettel and Helmut Marko must be still quite chummy then?
Although the BBC thinks Marko is a Helmet.

Seems a bit of a knee jerk reaction, maybe sponsor issues?
-
• #5575
Not reading too much in to this. It's essentially a reshuffle within the same team and perhaps there was some bias for Max as he might be showing better performance in simulation or something.
On live tv?
