Did you notice the Christ medallion on his chain?
As I see it, he's dressed in the local garb, but with his own personal statement thrown in.

The locals generally don't mind if non nationals wear the national dress, but they can get a bit wound up if people do their own interpretation of it.

A thoroughly entertaining race. That was like a film in which I never got bored.
Drive of the day goes to Grosjean for me. Move of the day goes to VanDoorn. Go the rookies.
5/7 would Bahrain again.

I reckon we're going to see a significantly more focussed Lewis over the next few races.
When he was interviewed after the race yesterday, he seemed a so much calmer man than the toy-thrower he used to be - the podium finish may well have helped that.
It may well not be this year, but I honestly hope that Lewis goes on to win another WC to match the likes of the Finger and the Professor.

I can't agree more. I feel Lewis accepts that he's still a bit faster, and it was just circumstances that didn't have him take the lead in each race.
@mashton I think VanDoorn did a great job. But now that its clear McLaren have a bit more power, I'll be loving the tussle between Jenson and Alonso, when he gets back into the car. I think Alonso is the faster, but Jenson will push.

My favourite stat from the race, the Pascal Wehrlein set the 6th fastest lap in his Manor.

I didn't see that. Amazing. Go Rookies.

Glad to see they've reverted back to the 2015 Qualifying format now. After unanimous demands from all teams.

Jean Todt doesn't seem to understand what humiliation is. He really was an arse about this.

End of second practice in China and Ferrari have the better of it. I think Lewis might be working on a long run strategy, since he'll start with a 5 place penalty, due to a change of gearbox.
Alonso is only a tiny fraction behind Bottas, so it's looking promising so far for McLaren. I've always been a McLaren fan, so I'm hoping to see them back at the front of the field eventually.

Can't see Ferrari being top of the time sheets in qualifying though. Mercedes can turn the wick up a hell of a lot more than Ferrari can when the time comes.

Good article about mathematically modelling who the greatest driver is/was... Interestingly, Prost and Alonso are 2nd & 3rd and Shumacher is 6th...
-
• #5490
But rises to 3rd if his Mercedes seasons are not included.
Good to see they've thought to calculate that also.
-
• #5491
True true. I'm more surprised about Alonso to be honest...
-
• #5492
I dunno, I'd be betting on Alonso if we could see him vs Schumacher when they were both in their prime in equal machinery.
-
• #5493
My main surprise was that Prost outdid Senna.

Ricciardo in second place in Qualies! Amazing drive; and also shows how superior RedBull's chassis is. Ferrari dropped the baton, fluffed their lines, are as sick as a parrot, insert other cliches here Lewis starts from dead last. It looks like it will be some race.

Should make for a nice race actually, with Lewis battling up through the field. Hoping to see Vettel and Bottas on the podium but I won't hold my breath.

That channel four dufus interviewer is a complete and utter bag of shit. He knows fuck all about F1, why the fuck did C4 choose him?
-
• #5497
He's the luckiest cunt in broadcasting, that's what he is.

Good qualifying session! Great to see Mr. Smiley in 2nd.

I'm beginning to lose interest in F1.
Professionally... and as a spectacle...

Really? Seriously?
