i suspect this is another shithouse decision by ferrari.

Yes I have to agree. For one reason or another seb just isn't very quick. How can he be consistently out performed by ricarddio?
And I bet he won't be cheap.

That's a joke right? When they get so much of their income from their position in the WCC?
-
• #4430
I think it's largely due to the lack of exhaust blown diffuser. He (as well as Red Bull) was able to utilise that so much better than anyone else it seems. Looking forward to the Red Bull battle next year! Hopefully the Honda engine will be a match for Mercedes, looking forward to seeing Alonso winning again!

i think vettel sees more of an opportunity for improvement under the new regime at ferrari than a post-newey/renault powered red bull. not to mention saving his reputation after getting his arse kicked by ricciardo.
if that honda works (there are reports that they are struggling, a bit like renault), then it could be long time before vettel is back up there (a bit like alonso now).
i hope alonso gets it sorted at mclaren.

I hope Ron Dennis strings Alonso along just enough for all the other teams to finalise their driver lineups and then tells him to get fucked.
-
• #4433
And then have teams pay off their current drivers to make room for him again?
-
• #4434
Nope - and then keep JB for another year whilst they develop the car and alleviate the initial teething problems which'll be inevitable.
-
• #4435
Who do you think (if anyone) is staying at McLaren? Personally I think there's a strong possibility of JB not having a seat at all next year. On the one hand it's a shame as he's a good driver and a nice guy, definitely a valuable resource to a team! Then again he's had a fairly long stint in F1 as it is, maybe it's time to move on.

Having experienced how damaging his petulance can be, I can't believe McLaren would even consider employing him for a minute.
But then he can get a good result out of an under performing car.Maybe they'll give him a drive on condition that he pays them the money he cost them when they were disqualified from the constructors championship.

I think Alonso will be back in the game next season, with only reliability being an issue. I predict the Honda's will be very strong units.
-
• #4439
I'll be looking to put a bet on him to take a victory next year. Thankfully (so far) managed to forget to put a bet on Massa doing a similar job for this season!
-
• #4440
I seriously doubt the Honda McLaren will be a winning car next year. But it's probably Alonso's best option. Nor will the Ferrari.
I know the Merc PU has a lot up its sleeve for next year and will be seriously hard to beat.
Glad to see Rosberg is faster than Hamilton... yet again. Did you see that too GA2G?
-
• #4441
I did see that gridds, and I, and nearly everyone that I know of, thinks Lewis is the faster driver. But, what would be interesting, is to see who copies who, when looking at their team-mate's telemetry.
-
• #4442
Shit. I haven't seen the race yet but heard what happened.
Hope Jules Bianchi is ok. Currently in surgery for his head injuries! Sounds pretty bad.
-
• #4443
gridds, will the Renault engine be competitive next year? This year had been an embarrassment to them.
-
• #4444
It can't be any worse than it is this year, as they're allowed to change a few things for next year.
However I kind of hope it will still be shit - we're binning them and going with Merc PU for the next 6 years from 2015, which is a bit of a result.
-
• #4445
Yes. I think Ferrari and Renault really dropped the ball with the new units.
I predicted that Ferrari would struggle with the new engine, but was derided.
My prediction for next year is that Honda will be second to the Merc units, but not behind on power, only reliability. I see Alonso's move being the same as Lewis'. He's had discussions about the power unit, and saw that was where he could gain some advantage.

Button next year with a Honda engine. He should go out with a bang, not literally.
-
• #4447
If its true that Vettel will be making £50 million a year with Ferrari, I don't think he'll care where he finishes.
-
• #4448
Ooof, just saw the video of Bianchi crashing into the crane. That was pretty nasty, I'm amazed he's survived (so far).
-
• #4449
It's horrific. I'll be amazed if he does survive :(

• #4450
Normally when there's a crash in F1 it's pretty spectacular (carbon flying all over the place, cars in the air, etc) but you know the driver is likely to walk away. This just looked horrible. Hopefully we'll have good news soon.
I hope this typhoon doesn't give us a total safety car race. That would suck.
I want a race with a typhoon arriving at two third distance and racing still allowed. Could give a win for Jenson a la Canada a few years back.
