  • Kimi up to 6th from 18th, and all done in 13 laps. Impressive.

  • halove the bike lane in t10

  • Kimi is storming, no doubt, Hope jenson can sort it out, Hamilton's gobbling up that gap in the clear air

  • 13th and then retires. Way to go Massa.

    Go Button though!
I'd love it if he took the championship. And I do love hearing God Save the Queen after a race

  • No problem getting a Sky stream Even watched Edwards and Coulthard on Aussie tv for a bit.

    Well done Button.

  • Sky F1 HD's coverage and commentary was superb.

  • And I do love hearing God Save the Queen after a race

Really? I think it's an embarrassment.

I enjoy us coming 2nd in things pretty much for that reason.

  • Weirdo.

The tune is crap, but hearing it means we won.

  • Sky F1 HD's coverage and commentary was superb.

Post-race was pretty dire. Lazenby not as good as Jake, Pinkham not as good as Lee, and I missed Eddie Jordan, who although he comes across as a bit of a buffoon, can be very incisive at times.

I'm happy not signing up for Sky, as it seems I'll still be able to follow every race live. Even James Allen on Radio 5 was tolerable.

  • Weirdo.

The tune is crap, but hearing it means we won.

It also means we built something that won.

  • It's the lyrics I can't abide.

  • I thought it was about Sir Elton.

  • It's the lyrics I can't abide.

Just for you they play the instrumental version.
Acapella is on the b side

  • Just watching the Mansell programme afterwards. I know the whole point of the show is for him to talk about himself, but boy does he come across as arrogant.

  • Interesting that both he and Hill have both won the world championship on one occasion, but Hill doesn't come across like a right wanker.

  • I once petitioned for the national anthem to be changed... back in early 2007 just before setting up this forum:
    http://www.petitiononline.com/petitions/goldanth/signatures

The #10 Petition site launched shortly after that so I copied it onto that site.

We, the people of Britain, feel that our current National Anthem has lost a bit of its sparkle.

When we are confronted by the rare occasion of us winning a medal at the Olympic, we all have to mumble through "God Save The Queen", well God help us!

We would thereby like to table the suggestion that we change the National Anthem to something more modern and appropriate and that will re-invigorate our pride.

What we specifically want to see, is that the National Anthem be changed in favour of "Gold" by Spandau Ballet.

Further, we would like our National Olympic Committee to decree that Tony Hadley is the only person permitted to handle medal ceremonies where the National Anthem is played.

We don't mind what he wears when he does this, but preference is given towards a gold lame suit.

The only thing I missed at the time is the obvious need to clone Tony Hadley for future generations, which JamieC (one of the signatories) pointed out.

  • Martin Fry from ABC wore the gold lamé suit, not Hadley.

  • Facts shouldn't get in the way of this.

  • Never let something like facts get in the way of a good campaign.

  • Just watched the race in HD on a 50" LCD.

Interesting contrast to watching it with my dad on our 9" black and white CRT when I was younger.

That aside, great race I thought, plenty of scope for this season.

I'm glad to see the Williams are much improved, and I want to see Sergio win a couple of races this year.

I've also realised that I didn't like Kimi previously because he was in a Fiat- I quite like him in a Lotus.

  • Interesting that both he and Hill have both won the world championship on one occasion, but Hill doesn't come across like a right wanker.

Possibly because Damon Hill was always the more grounded person. He worked as a motorcycle courier for a little while for Hornets Couriers (I was a pushie for them later), when money was tight, and Damon had to earn a crust for his young family. A regular bloke, with an uber-famous dad, who became a world champion. Yes, I prefer Damon too.

  • Possibly because Damon Hill was always the more grounded person and had a large silver spoon in his mouth at all times,. He worked as a motorcycle courier for a little while just for effect. An exceedlingly priviledged "regular" bloke, with an uber-famous dad, who became a world champion by connections. Yes, I prefer Damon too.[/QUOTE]
Marvellous what a top bloke had to step down from BRDC for making a right hash of the Silverstone redevelopement, not to worry Daddy or someone will sort it out!!!

  • His old man was killed when he was a kid, so there wasn't anyone else to sort it out. Hence why he bacame a grounded young man.

    Do your homework.

citron, I understand that many are contemptuous of those that have come from monied backgrounds, but not every one of these people become Tamara Ecclestone....for example.

Your comment about Damon Hill comes across as crass, assinine, petty, and rather pathetic - and makes me envisage an appendage growing from your upper trapezius, that somewhat resembles a monstrous 'frite'.

    Damon Hill Profile/Biography
    Profile
While the name may have helped Damon Hill get in to Formula One, it was his ability that won him his world championship. Hill was just two years old when his father Graham won his first title, and following in his footsteps means they remain to this day the only father-son pairing to become the Formula One Drivers' World Champion.

Hill was never overly interested in four-wheeled racing, instead much preferring motorbikes as a child. *After the sudden death of his father in a plane crash in 1975*, *Hill was forced to have to provide for himself financially from a young age*. One of his early jobs was as a motorcycle courier, and more time on a bike eventually saw him start racing at the relatively late age of 21......

  • I'm liking that we're agreeing.

    Citron - don't be a lemon.
