Just listened to that collection of Murrayisms, in tears laughing at some of them. The guy is an utter hero, check out this gem:

‘And it’s Irvine moving up from tenth to ninth, I don’t think he’ll do better than that; and Irvine crosses the line in seventh’
‘...and yes, I am very much mistaken...’
‘These gravel-traps don’t seem to be stopping anybody here’
Brundle – ‘There isn’t one there Murray...’
‘Hakkionen is a superer starter, if there is such a word’
+1 Murray Walker

So next year we're going to have Team Lotus, and Lotus Renault. Slightly confusing, but better than no Lotus at all.

I have to admit I was disappointed when they said they were going to be racing in the JPS colours, hopefully Team Lotus keep the BRG & yellow colour scheme from this year, the proper Lotus colours.

If they had done it as 'Buy a watch, then punch Bernie with it' kind of thing, I imagine there would be quite a few takers.

Well that at least makes it clear. Better than every team lieing about it.

I had £10 on him this year at 5/1 :)
As big an Alonso fan as I am, if anyone is going to threaten Schumacher's 7 WDCs it'll be Vettel. Schumacher won't get involved at all, we've seen him this season leap out of the way of the leaders when he's been getting lapped, never getting in anyone's way when he doesn't need to.
I'm tempted to throw a few £s on him taking the WDC next year though.

1.6l four cyclinder engines from 2013?! wtf? They're going to sound like angry gnats. I get that it's indended to reflect a general trend for smaller more efficient road cars but really? is that what motorsport is supposed to be about? efficiency and thrift? I want 1000hp 3L V12 turbos back.

apparently going to the 1.6ltr, compound turbo with KERS will increase efficiency from 3mpg to 4... WOWOWOW.
I think you'd prob get better sounding, and faster cars with lower revving larger capacity engines.
check red bulls idea for a new f1 (linked to GT5... so not happening)
http://www.gtplanet.net/red-bull-x1-prototype-gets-real-set-to-debut-in-madrid/
specs: 1,483bhp at 15,000rpm and 526lb-ft. at 12,000rpm from a twin turbo V6. thats more like it

haha, solar power cars for 2015 ;-)

As with everything in life, Lotus have the answer:

I reckon if they really want to bring back some invention to F1 they should give each team (say) 1,000 kg of fuel per car to last the season.
The car has to pass the same crash tests as today, and have no more than 300kg downforce at 150mph.
Those are the only rules pertaining to car design.
If you can eke out an advantage by running four small gas turbines coupled to a central KER's, and feeding power to four in wheel electric motors do that, if a 1.5 litre turbo V6 rocks your world do that.
If you run out of fuel before the flag of the race then that's a straight DNF, and for the remaining races you score points for the drivers championship but not the manufacturers.
-
• #1893
Also put a limit on the amount of turbulence that a car can generate in its wake.
Actually if you're practically getting rid of downforce that's not necessary, nevermind.

Aye, I was going to leave a couple of not very effective wings as advertising hoardings basically.
Mechanical grip over aero- then they can overtake.

And the return of four-wheel drifts swoon

Vettels car is in a shop front on Tooley Street, F1 geeks should organise a ride and go ogle it through the glass.

BBC commentary team for next season is going to be Martin Brundle (main) with David Coulthard as his co-comentator. I'm not a great fan of Coulthard, seems a bit dull, and has a bias towards Red Bull. I tend to switch to the Croft/Davidson feed from Radio 5 for the race, but I'll give the Brundle/Coulthard a go at the start of the season.

legard is a bell-end. he gets hyper excited and it gets up my tits.

I'd rather have Legard than bloody Coulthard - he bores my eyelids backwards, can't stick him

Yeah I hear you. I just read an article on this this morning. One thing they are worried about is how they are going to get that adrenalin thumping noise out a small in-line 4 turbo.
You want to see things like the Ferrari 712 Can-Am. 1mpg or something :)
Don't forget Interlagos, my personal favourite alongside Spa. The main problem with these new Tilke tracks is the lack of undulation. I mean Silverstone is still a pretty decent circuit considering it's built on an airfield, but tracks like Spa, Interlagos, Donington with a lot of ups and downs with tons of camber to upset the cars is what we need. Not these new autodromes that look like they've been laid on a snooker table.
Agreed about Legard, he is a pain in the arse, nowhere near as bad as James Allen though, who has given us such classics as "The G forces around that corner are the equivilant of having a labrador strapped to your helmet". Murray was a plonker at times but you knew that he absolutely loved the sport and that's what let him get away with it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0TZ_YLQSgg
Murray and Hunt were a particularly great pairing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khA67-r5lSQ
I'd love to see Crofty & Davidson (The Radio 5 commentators) alongside Brundle, they are a great pairing.
A final word about Jordan, I think he's fantastic for the BBC coverage, Jake is still a bit of a novice in the sport however he is doing a great job. DC still has his head stuck up the arse of Red Bull. Eddie isn't afraid to ask the questions we all want to but everyone else is afraid to, he isn't afraid to grab (usually litterly) anyone and everyone who he wants to talk to. And the bickering between them is great to watch.
