Stripped saddles are the bomb :)! I'm running a stripped Specialized toupe atm..
It's real easy too, just strip it, sand it and spray some paint+clear coat on -

I stripped a brooks b17. It's pretty low profile. Fucking comfy as fuck as well. Love it.

thermoplastics (moulded plastic) often has fillers in it to change its charecteristics....glass or carbon fibre (picture 3mm long) to make it more rigid. its mixed in the molten plastic before being injected into a die.
carbon fibre parts are mostly carbon fibre with a thermoset plastic (think resin which sets in a chemical reaction- like araldite) binding it all together.

Bump!
I´m stripping the shit out of an SLR tomorrow.
Anyone has decent close-up pics of any? -
• #60
ironically, they are really comfortable.

I really want to get one.
Anyone have an old black SLR, stripped or regular? -

Thanks Murtle, I just got it! So that I don´t fuck it up, it is basically just peeling off the cover and remove any glue, innit? I mean, no sanding, or anything like that needed?
Much appreciated, I will take pics of the all process. -

yeah, i just yanked off the leather, whilst still on the bike, then got some white spirit and rubbed off all the remaining glue etc. job done.

Nice!... just opened the parcel... the saddle is immaculate*. 165g, *RAD*icolous....

Not sure it is so ironic that it is comfortable, being that the cover is largely cosmetic anyway isn't it? Even the extra padding on the XP that I use is pretty much taking the piss and not sure it does anything.

don't ya think?
i love mine, on my third one now.

It was actually after seeing a pic of Max´s and yours^, that I got into it.

Not sure it is so ironic that it is comfortable,
It is.
Like rain on your wedding day.
Or some kind of spoon/knife catastrophe.I've got a stripped SLR and it's freakin' comfy. Far nicer than my old Brooks Swallow, by a long way. I might strip the Ritchey I've got on my road bike, it looks like it might be just as nice.

Yeah okay, it is ironic in an Alanis sort of way.
Looks like I don't need to worry when mine scuffs through (bike keeps falling against wall well clumsily putting in garage) as I can just strip it.

that's why i stripped mine, one side was totally knackerd and torn, so just yanked it off.

I deserted my last one as one of the rails was bent, meaning crooked saddle, meaning sore on one side of my arse.
Got a normal SLR XP now, been meaning to strip it but can't be bothered.
They are very comfy, no saddle like a stripped SLR.
Stripped Flites are also nice.
