  • yes they will, they do exactly what it said.

    Ok,

    Will give it a go!

Cheers Ed, Help is much appreciated.

  • print out the cheapest fahgettiaboutit page from an online bike shop, go to cyclesurgery or equation to 'price match' the lock.

i did exactly that today and it worked a treat. make sure you take in the printout though. they said they get munters going in all the time and asking the staff to check the internet for them. to which they reply, 'fuck off you munter'.

the printout needs to have the shipping price as well as this is added on to the deal they give you. but if you get your price from www.activesportskit.co.uk the shipping is free!

  • Well naturally, and also including the most recent date on your print-out is important too, as there are time people using really really old print-out with 2008 pricing to try and get them to sell it at that price.

  • It makes me think that Kryptonite and Abus locks are over-priced......

i can't tell if there is sarcasm here or not but if it genuine: of course they are! they're brands, innit.

  • Not necessarily velo libre. I think Kryptonite really have done alot of testing and innovation, along with Abus, into the quality of their products. This has cost them alot of money, and along with advertising costs, it pushes up the price of their products. But thank God for price-matching and Parker International. ;)

  • Cheers for your help Ed and GA2G for posting the link!
Managed to get the Krypto Fahgeddaboutit Mini D for £55 at evans with the price match.

The guy in there said they have had many people coming in asking for the same price match lol from parker international

  • The BAD thing though, is if Evans and CycleSurgery are able to put ParkerInternational and other similar retailers out of business,
then we will all lose, as Evans and CycleSurgery, once monopolising the market will send prices right up, and nobody could stop them.

If you can, do try to buy from Parker, or whoever have the lowest prices. Competition in the marketplace is good.
Evans make a huge mark-up on the bikes they sell anyway.

if parker go there will be another right in there to become the cheapest, capitalism, innit.

evans/everyone make a huge mark up on prices, factory, distro, shop, everyone takes a cut.

  • maybe think about adding this to the alarmed lock section

    http://www.sglocks.co.uk/heavy_security.html

  • Cheers Seb.

  • CRC have removed the price match link from their fah product page, balls!

  • Has anyone seen the "Abus Bordo Lock" Was told it was good as a second lock?

  • have you all seen the new knog light? its got an electronic key so is pick proof...

  • did anyone see the "best locks" thing in london lite? didn't even check this fucking forum it seems - the say a £135 abus is best, but for less than half that you get fah mini.

what the fuck is the world coming to when even jornalism can't rip off a fucking forum.

    jesus h christ.

  • went to grab one of those GRPS locks today. Thanks for the heads up GA2G!

doesnt seem half bad, not really too worried about the seemingly loose fit of the U, as my frame, crank arm etc all fit into the gap nicely, not any real room for levering it about.

coupled with a fah mini i id say its a pretty good combo.

  • i have evo mini and fah chain, may get fah d when funds allow.

and be seriously annoyed if my bike gets stolen.

  • velo libre, you're chain is the vulnerable part of your lock set-up. It can be cropped or cut far more quickly than I think you would like. I can't recommend any chain with less than 16mm links.

The Evo Mini is an excellent carry-around lock, though for real resistance to cropping, again, I can only recommend 16mm as a minimum for U-lock bar width. A disc alarm lock really seems to be the thing that will protect a bike most against theft, if you're close enough to respond to it.

  • well i got the fah chain for £30 brand new, so i ain't complaining. i figure fah chain, fah d, and disc alarm is pretty much the most i can practically protect my bike with.

  • yeah, i have been planning on grabbing a disc alarm lock for quite some time now. It seems more practical as i rarely leave my bike unattended, unless its to literally nip into a shop. in which case an alarm lock is the most practical.

  • Has anyone seen the "Abus Bordo Lock" Was told it was good as a second lock?

Brother, I think you may make your own mind up after reading this, ABUS Bordo Review.

  • i did exactly that today and it worked a treat. make sure you take in the printout though. they said they get munters going in all the time and asking the staff to check the internet for them. to which they reply, 'fuck off you munter'.

I did this today but it said on the evans site they'd check it anyway so... i am a munter! but i did get £35 off a fah mini!

  • i recently insured my bike by evans, as it is insured for £600 i need a "sold secure - silver" approved bike lock. Evans site is pretty useless as it doesnt say which are bronze silver or gold. Anyone have any idea where i could look at a range of "silver" ones, or just recommend a silver one?

    cheers

  • Read the topic, it only 6 pages long too.

  • have you all seen the new knog light? its got an electronic key so is pick proof...

i thought you were doing the taking of the piss, until I saw a video demostrating that lock, that can't be a good idea.
