This simply isn't true - don't be a cock......
Why on earth would you choose to swear at me?
If your choice of lock doesn't fit the criteria accepted by most, then there's nothing wrong with that. Individuality is a good thing, not a bad thing.
However, its not just numpties like me that agree with the directions and the findings of this thread, its also numpties that work directly for Krytonite, Xena and Pragmasis. They also agree with the findings of this thread, and they've helped support the knowledge base here, and customer service.
Feel free to tread your own path, but there is no need to call me a cock, just because you see things differently to others. Its deeply unfortunate that you feel that is the right way to be.

I called you a cock because I think that saying
leave it unlocked. Its the same as buying 2 cheap locks.
makes you look like a cock. It's dismissive, unhelpful, and untrue.
The fact you choose to attack my choice of words rather than engage with my disagreement with you just confirms my opinion.

Didn't I clearly state that my Klein mountain bike was nicked, with 2 cheap u-locks on it? It was my best ever bike. I learnt a hard lesson there, and it was the second theft that I'd suffered. Since then, no thefts. That was the last. I learned my lesson, researched locks, and formed this thread.
If a bike is valuable, then 2 cheap locks are like having no locks at all. I know this from personal experience. And so I passed on what I have learned through bitter happenstance. How is that wrong?
-
• #2330
......... If your lock has value, get a lock from the list on the first page of this thread. If you don't care about the bike, leave it unlocked. Its the same as buying 2 cheap locks. Its your call.
Why take one quote out of context? The whole sentence says, If you don't care about your bike, leave it unlocked.
I think its fair to wonder why I'm being sworn at, after 47 pages of it not happening before. Its your prerogative, but I think it was uncalled for, especially as you took my words out of context.

How about two of these:
ABUS 40/130HB140 U-Mini U-Lock - Yellow, 143/80/15 mm:Amazon.co.uk:Sports & Outdoors
Search this thread, they've been discussed previously. I think they're decent locks and represent Abus quality quite well. They're not a really hefty primary lock, but since they have the advantages of small size (less room for tools) I think 2 of them would deter attacks on a cheapish bike and defeat casual-to-moderate attacks. They are quite small though, good with tight clearances, useless on an mtb.
Edit: Apologies, the actual discussion of these was in the Secondary Locks thread

My girlfriend has an old krypto lock that's pen vulnerable, I asked if they'd replace it and they were like we already spent loads on new locks so sod off.

Has anyone any experience of the Squire ss50cs/tc3 - 900mm / 14mm lock and chain gold motorcycle sold secured?
Seems to come down to £50 for the chain and padlock every now and again which seems good for a "leave-at-work" option.
(Mediation - can't offer much help, but I'm looking at the Squire lock because my OnGuard lock seized after being left in the rain a few times)
-
• #2341
Garnett, just out of interest, did you lube your previous lock from time to time?
Hopefully with graphite grease?

Mediation, check the Secondary Locks thread, for comparable locks. It could help you make up your mind.

ga2g, i've got a magnum something or other, basically the exact same as onguard's 13mm offering, same x2 locking mechanism etc. same graphics, that's stripped down to bare metal and 9 months after a wd40, then lube, it's still running pretty damn smooth, this is locked up in rain and open to the elements

Thanks for pointing me there, sounds like the onguard locks have problems with rusting and other issues over time. So ill go with the other choice.

Sorry, I don't understand your question. Are you referring to the name of the product, or the price?

Name/link/price/type ect it seems wrongly placed, maybe just a hidden bargain of a lock so wanted to ask.
Also after looking again it seems to be a duplicate/rebrand of the oxford magnum which is in the next section, both seem to have the same bar bit and be marked ART 4051... someone with both to hand could maybe confirm that?

Hey there GAG2. Nope - I did nothing to it. And I read your recommendation. And I felt it getting more and more fouled up. And I left it in the rain at work overnight all winter.I know. I know. I'm not criticising the lock, it's just not for a lazy git like me.

Hey, just wanted to let you know I got my kryptonite locks today! thanks for the help
They are so heavy! need a stronger backpack now :)
I've never had a problem getting the Fahg mini around wheel, frame and stand. It's a snug fit, which is good. MIne is a slender-tubed old steel frame, though; possible some chunkier frames might present a problem.
