Oh and looking back - any particular reason why the kabrus 303 was removed GA2G? At 17mm+alarm it would seem useful and 2-packs are being sold for the equivalent of 23 quid apiece.

Its now in the Secondary Locks thread.

• #2254
Ah 14mm under the plastic, fair enough.
Ridiculous that they get away with it...

• #2255
Has the Tigr lock been mentioned on here and does anyone have it?
-
• #2256
Tigr lock: expensive and ridiculously unsafe.
-
• #2257
Why unsafe?
-
• #2259
I thought it was supposed to be really safe? Oh well.
-
• #2260
Woah. Lock is pretty ugly as well anyway.
-
• #2261
also, how are you supposed to bring that anywhere?

The guy who came up with them actually shows this weakness in his development videos. That you can both saw or crop it, but the function of the lock relies on thieves not having a decent saw or big bolt cutters on them.
Reasonable security for the weight, but I think the awkward shape out does the niche utility.

• #2263
So, useful anywhere there's no real bike theft problem. Otherwise, shit.

You're supposed to clip it to the top tube, like this:

I wonder if you could put some slots in a frame and have it almost entirely hidden?

Hey all, I am moving to London next weekend and just wanted some advice about using my fixed gear around London. I've ridden my bike previously in Birmingham and around Aylesbury/Milton Keynes, where I have been fine locking (for short amounts of time) with a On-Guard Pitbull mini lock and cable. I'm a keen follower of the Bike Locks that work and How not to lock your bike threads, so I know that this will not be enough when locking in London.
I will be living in Stratford (either locking bike in secure garden or leaving it inside) and riding it to the new Amazon offices in Holborn Viaduct during the week. My offices are supposed to have bike locking facilities as part of the car park, which I assume is underground.
So my question is - am I better off ordering a full sized U lock to use in conjunction with my mini U lock, or a proper big chain + lock that I leave at work most of the time (also in conjunction with the mini u lock)?

• #2267
is it an expensive bike?
-
• #2268
roughly £350-400 worth, not a particularly desirable frame

Balls sorry, missed the correct thread for this! Anyone got any good 1st hand advice for the best route to go for this?
-
• #2271
As ever, it's the risk you're willing to take. I'm on your route in to work, and just had a bike nicked so might not be qualified to comment - but will:
Underground in Amazon's office sounds fairly safe, but there are countless stories of stuff going missing from supposedly "secure" parks - so at least 2 decent locks, but a normal + mini D will probably suffice as even the most useless security procedures should detect a bunch of thieves with bolt croppers
Bear in mind a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so you're unlikely to get equivalent security to a D at the same or even similar price>
So -
buy the best D lock you can afford/think you need. Use in conjunction with your other lock. Most people in the city lock inadequately anyway and you only need to beat the next person.

my own question
Anyone have experience of good bike mounting/carrying methods for a krypto M18? Sounds like a tricky task but if anyone knows of something that works I'm willing to give it a try.

Pannier bag

Butler.

Woah. Lock is pretty ugly as well anyway.
180 euros for that hahahaaha
Has anyone bought one of the "GRP" locks from AE Wilson recently?
I ask as I want good strong steel to prevent a re-occurance of bike theft, and it seems like an economical way to get it...
