  • Guess it's OK, but thieves will just take it off as they nick it, or smash it in the face and take it off later. Might help against stupid opportunists and would be good to keep track of what you've been up to.

  • Plus, it would be a pain to keep swapping it between bikes.

  • They should integrate one into a saddle that uses your testicles to amplify the signal.

  • And it doses out electric retribution if it detects the wrong testes testing it out.

  • Any news on the update?

  • apollo,
    For the Evolution Series 4 Disc lock dims;

    Shackle dimensions: 2.1” (H) x 1.8” (W) : (54mm (H) x 48mm (W)

anyone know what that measurement is?

  • Is that the internal measurement only; ie. within the interior of the shackle?

  • Correct... I used his drawing as my follow up comment, but should have added that these are I.D. Measurements

  • You're a top man.

  • A correction:

I made reference earlier to a Maxim magazine test between the Fahg Mini and the OnGuard Brute - well the test was actually for a Kryptonite CHAIN versus the Brute. No surprise then that the Brute won.

But looking at the thickness of the Fahg Mini (18mm) vs the Brute (16.8mm), and assuming both steel samples to be extremely superior, then the Fahg Mini would be the victor. Still, whether 18mm or 16.8mm, both would provide excellent security.

However, the new OnGuard locks look like children's toys, so I feel that some may be kicked/attacked, just to test its strength. Really, I cannot see what they were thinking. It looks ridiculous.

  • agree with the looks for the above, i ordered an old brute and they sent me a new one, so that was a nice surprise, but it did look terrible, i've since taken that yellow thing off the top (bit of patience and an army knife and you're there), stickerbomnbed the shackle and covered the base in electricity tape.

looks a lot meaner now and a lot less likely to scratch my frame.

however for value - i ended up paying £25, it really doesnt get much better

    rep'd, thanks

any comment on the truthfulness of their steel diameters?

some manufacturers are clearly blatantly lying/including plastic coverings/"rounding up" etc so it would be good to know, i've got my eye on some of their unfortunately ugly new stuff for secondary/light use

  • looks to be about right, i stripped all the rubber off mine so it should be exactly the claimed 16.8mm, hadn't even thought of checking to be honest.

will get the vernier calipers out next time i go to the garage and let you know

  • Any news on that update? Will probable go on a small bicycle lock shopping-spree on friday.

  • What update are you referring to?

  • lock that works.

  • Ok, meaning the first post. :-) I'll try to get round to it.

See post 1979 for an explanation. It's just further up this page.

Thanks mate. Will be looking forward to the updated information :)

  • I've done it now..... At least for the U-locks.

The chains and things may have to wait, maybe even forever. These changes all take a long time, and I haven't always got time for it. Anyway, somebody will be happier now.

  • GA2G I salute you. Simple as that.

  • We salute you indeed GA2G, thanks mate.

  • squire security zenith range? heavy, but the only lock ive had so far that hasnt been broken by some gypsies

  • I just had a look at their range, and sadly, those Squire Zenith locks cannot make these lists. Maybe they can lock little children's bikes, but not those of members of this forum.

As tragic as that suggestion was, there was a highlight - I found the Squire Hammerhead lock. It looks to be truly excellent, and I shall be including it in the Secondary Locks list.

  • I just made one change in the first post, please be patient again till it reappears. It needs to clear moderation each time. The Trelock BS 550 is now £35.99, instead of £58.49. The edit was worth it I think.
