I've thrown a chain on a roundabout and had it wrap the sprocket and bring me to a near instant stop whilst riding with a front brake. brakless shaming aside this is the bit that made me clench when reading it as if his chain had wrapped it wouldn't have mattered if he had a brake or not. scientists would be trying to figure out a way to turn him back from 2d to 3d.

I did say according to strava so probably not super accurate, all I know is it felt very fast and absolutely terrifying! I have a fairly high gearing and was pretty close to the point where I'd have trouble resisting the pedals because of the speed I was spinning at. I think I'm definitely going to give a brake a go for a bit at least.

Having managed to go beyond 40mph on 65", I can't even imaging how on earth can you slow down when spinning that high.

I did this on a the gearing on a ride with Mikey5000 (he had the speedo whilre on gears and was like 'fucking hell, not only are you really really good looking you can spin as well'. This was with a brake but stopping when spinning that fast just required a decent bit of timing on the pedals (with a few scips and skids). Spin to win. Its really not that hard or unbeleavable.

I now run a higher GI (about 73) and ride brakeless in Auckland wich is fucking hilly. I can safely say that I NEVER ride down hills that fast unless I can see about 3 miles of clear road with no junctions (wich is very rare). Not really worth it.

Thousands if not millions of cyclists use SPDs perfectly effectively, but they aren't on trend for LFGSS so as soon as anyone has a problem with them they are advised to spend money they don't need to on trendy ATACs because they are bang on trend by people who mostly don't even ride their bikes properly much when clipless pedals are hugely subjective. LOL.

Worth saying that the fastest time put down at the last London Rollapaluza hit 213rpm. I get a bit skeptical when people talk about 'in the wild' RPM's that would have won Rollapaluza...
