had an oh shit moment on my way home this evening when someone threw a load of rubbish in a big bin next to the road. It made a noise just like some kind of metallic impact or car crash. for a split second i thought it was just about to get 'mullered'.
another oh shit moment i had today was thinking so deeply when riding, but not about the riding, i almost road into a stretch of chain across a car parking space. that would have hurt.

So washing the food processor blade... This is magimix, blades by Sabatier, all that stuff. Been doing a Jamie Oliver recipe so olive oiled to the max. Blade slips. Thumb is now a couple of mm shorter.
Oh Shit. -

Ow.

Who needs thumbs anyway?
-
• #2083
Yeah it's taken a couple of hours of pressure to stop the bleeding. First Aid At Work training to the rescue!
At least I don't need the thumb to ride, although I think that last post just crossed the line into solidly middle class. Here's to a fortnight of life one-handed \o/ -

I reckon dogs could achieve more with them.
-
• #2085
They've already reached the pinnacle of auto-testicular-osculation so I don't think their life would be all that richer to be honest.

• #2086
Thumb up the jacksy?
-
• #2087
Can't say I've met a dog that reacted well to that.
-
• #2088
You've not been meeting the right dogs.

Managed to squinch the end off my middle finger getting it trapped between my chain and the chainring on my first ever fixed gear... a good lesson unnecessarily learnt in person. Finger and thumbs take bloody ages to heal - it was something like three weeks before it stopped splitting open every now and then.

I sliced my left thumb open doing carrot batons on a mandoline. It was the first of Jan this year. Took til mid-Feb to heal over. Nowadaisies i just have crisp sandwiches for dinner - it's safer.

caught in Deadly wind... Hat blew off mid intersection. stopped to lay down the bike off the street. Luckily i got to it before getting ran over.
Part2 on the way back big gust of wind blew me about 2feet heading straight for an automobile. Was able to recover even after losing my left foot out of the strap.
Mother Nature must be Pissed at Sumthin

Had a massive oh shit moment this morning.
Heading North towards Southwark Bridge and the timings are in my favour so the lights had turned green, the nodder pelaton are about 100 yards ahead and I am cruising through. There are two Conwy Highway Maintenance trucks trundling along, one starts indicating left to turn down Sumner St and then starts turning directly into the path of the aforementioned nodders.
Having a clenching feeling in my arse cheeks as this has a huge potential to get messy.
Thanksfully all the nodders stopped and so does the lorry but he is at 45 degrees across the left turn and so the nodders were essentially "trapped".
I think both parties were in the wrong (or being idiots) but I am sure the responsibility would lay with the Conway lorry driver. Either way scared the beejesus out of me. Tempted to email Conway but didn't catch the reg - these things might be GPS'd though

Brake cable snapped....

Got left hooked by a car while riding about 20mph, went over the bonnet, driver gapped it, I walked away bruised but ok. Killed a beautiful frame.

Cool clearance. Does it barspin?
Glad you're OK. That could well have ended much worse.

That'll be fine as long as you go in circles everywhere.
Not in the rain, I hope.
