  • Can anyone remember the name of the Italian woman who disguised herself as a man and took part in the Giro D'Italia in the 20s or 30s? I remember reading about her in a cycling mag a couple of years ago but can't find anything on Google. AndyP?

Hah - it was one of my childhood ambitions to disguise myself as a man and be the first woman to ride in the TdF!

  • Nice to see a positive thread. Inspiring to all to get out and "do more stuff".

Amazed at some of the tags too.

  • Rachel Atherton. World Downhill Mountain Bike Champ. She's amazing. British and only 21.

  • Anyone mentioned Annie Londonderry yet or the Suffragette movement?

  • Mr. Wilson's girls seem awesome

  • Jill Homer is pretty cool. Partly because she lives in Alaska and it gets a little chilly up there, partly because she rides in the snow, a lot, including attempting the ITI.

  • Good work people.... some great pics and stats on here.
Beryl Burton was something else. I am amazed every time I read about her achievements.

  • Gabby Day, rides on Nicole's team now, nice person and strong as...

  • Hell yeah Rachel ! she is a really good friend of mine. Kills it on a BMX too. I was at the worlds cheering for he when she pasted her nearest competition by 12 seconds !

    Yep,

Great cross rider as well. Always puts on a good show at the nationals. Although Ruby Miller should be on the one to watch list as well. If she sticks with it, I reckon she'll be in the Olympics pretty soon.
