  • It sounds like he's going to be in good hands, hope all goes well and you get good news!

  • Hope everything goes well today, Pat :-)

  • I would like to borrow a Dalmatian (or other similar type of dog that likes running) for an hour/two hours at the weekend.

How do I go about this without getting arrested for being a weirdo?

  • T4 did some volunteering with these guys: http://www.cinnamon.org.uk/cinnamon-trust/
Might be worth a shot? There's borrowmydoggy.com too but it's written to appeal to people with the intellect of a plant pot.

  • ^amazingly cute

Here's my dad's dog Timber looking very pleased with himself. My dad forgot to lock the dog flap the other night so Timber got bored and escaped the garden to go for a stroll through the aisles of the local Tesco. According to the cleaners "he paid particular attention to the deli counter". The council picked him up and advertised on facebook for the owner (he usually has a collar with address tag but he has grown out of it and Dad has a new one on the way, he is also chipped).

  • @BareNecessities cheers Pete....

An update on Mr Riley....he has had an amazing surgery..I'm a bit dumbstruck. It was a very invasive tumour, but they managed to save his leg :0)
He had the outside two toes removed, plus the dew claw, which were all infected. The vet then used the skin from the toes to form a kind of figure of eight flap to close the wound, which would have remained open, due to the amount of tissue they had to remove. He then took the pads off the amputated toes and constructed new pads for his foot, to give him stability and cushioning so he can walk on it again....incredible, I thought!
He is in a lot of pain, but on the mend :0)

  • Wishing Mr Riley a good recovery.

  • Get well soon Mr Riley! Sounds like you've got an excellent vet @stedlocks.

@Kat_Balou I love Timber's face in that first photo! Looks so proud of himself.

  • Big thanks guys....

    Timber looks a tinker!

  • Indeed - get well soon Mr Riley :)

Big surgery like that is always scary, I remember when our greyhound Milly broke her leg. The break was near the elbow so required an external fixator (Titanium and carbon fibre!). Took a good few months to sort itself out - but you would never know that she had broken it a couple of years on!

Sounds like you have an amazing Vet surgeon btw!

  • Wishing Mr Riley a speedy recovery, it's amazing what they can do these days!

Thankfully Timber is well known where my dad lives due to my dad making a sled out of a scooter and getting him to pull him along.

  • Great news! You must be very relieved :-)

  • Cheers guys, very happy. I was getting a basket ready for the front of the bike though, just in case! And trying to work out how to get a spok on the front of him :0)

  • Great news for Mr Riley, wishing him a speedy recovery!

  • Herbie decided to empty the kitchen sink and found a pair of scissors...

  • Someone brought a 10 month old pug into the office today. It had absolutely no snout whatsoever and was permanently wheezing and snorting. How do those poor fuckers breathe?

  • Pics of herbie?
Mr Riley update...he is healing up, but has had to stay in for 2 extra days, as the vet wants to watch his wound without a dressing on, which is easier there than at home. We should be getting him Monday.
Our vet, Helen, is South african....she grew up on a reserve, where her dad was the ranger. She is well known for her experimental surgeries, and has won awards for them....particularly one poor frog, who got his leg caught in a pond pump/filter...she managed to save the frog's life, but had to amputate one leg. I know it sounds like a joke with a french pun at the end, but it's true :0)
He is in good hands....Lola misses him though!

  • Either this wallpaper goes, or I do.

Oddly enough, that's one of the few sections of wallpaper that the cats haven't yet destroyed :-/
