I can't believe that vet! Useless.
Unfortunately a collar won't deter him from roaming. Does he have any places in your flat that are 'his'? We found that when we isolated an area for her (mum's bedroom) grumpy older cat stopped disappearing and seemed much happier. Now my pair don't even try to disturb her there.

Till was put to sleep today at the grand age of 17. She was poorly with bad kidneys and became very thin. It has been a sad day :-(

I've been watching "superstar dogs" on channel 4. Shit programme with John Barrowman but the way dogs almost always refuse to do what they're told cracks me up. Particularly when one dog instead of completing the "dogstacle course" legged it into the crowd for a cuddle. The downside is it's making me want a dog even more and I can't keep pets in my flat.
