A track bike with a clamp-on brake? I should be so lucky.
-
• #2103
Well, 'a fixed gear bike with a removable brake fitted'. It's all the same thing.

Try 'a town bike with a rack and mudguards, converted to fixed gear, that would not, under any circumstances, be allowed near a velodrome'. I was planning on hiring a bike for the session.
'Practice' was clearly a poor choice of word. 'Excercise' is what I meant.

I've ridden a fixed mountainbike with rack and mudguards at Herne Hill :D
Perhaps 'good practice' in the sense of appropriate/optimum procedure.

I didn't hear you complain when you were overtaking me!

This week I won't trust 6pt telling me the track was too wet, the cad.

• #2114
You should have seen his reaction when the coaches told him the session was on...

Roads in SE13 were soaking at 7.30am so I assumed track would be off and went out on my road bike thinking of heading to Richmond.
Roads seemed to be getting wetter as I got to Camberwell so headed north to Regents Park which was bone dry. And the track dried out by 10?

why you no come race the Back in Black meet in the afternoon, dubtap?
It was awesome! -

And the track dried out by 10?
I swung by the track at 9 during a morning pootle and word was that it was too wet to ride. I relayed this to laner, went up to cadence for a coffee and then on a whim swung by the track on my way home at 9:50, with breakfast and a retreat to bed on my mind, only to find that it was all about to kick off. It was a hard one to call.

It's around £230 for the year, including printing. More if placed on the home straight. No cycling club adverts allowed.
Phil from VCL is the man to speak to.Wayne has his email adress....

Less "no cycling clubs allowed", more companies can support the track with money, and clubs should support the track with volunteering.

£230 all in?
Could be possible. Anything to reduce the wind.

Good practice for 24km of stop-start riding through the quiet streets of a capital city on a holiday weekend on a track bike with a clamp-on brake?
I expect so. Glad it wasn't a wasted trip.
