You write as if it was your duty was to defend people who drive expensive cars though.
People choose to spend their money on what they want but let's not say it is not harming anyone. Everything we do has an impact. If I choose to have something that I really do not need then I am responsible for wasting resources and for depriving people. It is like sharing food with 10 people. If I put half of the dish on my plate then there is less for the others. We are all responsible of our actions.
To buy something for just a status symbol is wasteful. A 500k Ferrari to a £5 sparkly jumper at Asda just to show off make people terribly unhappy and grasping. We have been fooled into thinking that having the best things will contribute to our happiness but look at the grief when those things are taken away from us or when we can't get them.
I don't feel it's my duty to defend people who drive expensive cars, in fact i've said above that I wouldn't drive a car like that in the city because I don't see the point in it, i'm arguing from another viewpoint because no one else is and without that it's simply a barrage of put downs to people who drive expensive cars, which I think is ignorant and unfair.
Polo is a lot cheaper than a Prius. As for harm.. well, why is there a big push to reduce emissions if there's no harm in them? What about the road toll? I don't mind people owning cars. I encourage them to choose other methods of travel where possible though.
What I meant was that they're not directly harming people, yes of course they give out pollution, but like I said that Audi shown above is a perfectly acceptable everyday car to most people, yet it's more inefficient than an Enzo, yet if that drove past you, you wouldn't feel anything towards it as it looks more discreet, I personally think pollution is pretty far down the rankings in terms of why people hate people who drive supercars.
well everyone has their vices, my manager has 10 mint steel bikes and a nice collection of seiko watches, JK has a thing for cars.
im not sure what the argument is here, but i like to contribute

Exactly, everyone has a thing they like to spend money on, if someone chooses to spend all their money on a nice car, so be it.

If you can afford a ferari, you can afford a little city run around. In fact the milage saved on the sports car would save you money on insurance and depreciation.
The average road speed in london cant be more than 15-20 mph.
Therefore, the only reason to drive one in the city is to show off.
Cock.
goes back to polishing, 'commuting aerospoke

maybe this is the answer, the Aston Martin Cygnet, not on sale to general public yet but will be soon for around 20k.
The new Ferrari 458 has a new DFI engine btw which greatly reduces emmisions, as a company I think they probably do far less damage than someone like TATA for example who's cheap little cars for the people are sold by the million to people who would otherwise be on a push bike or a scooter. -

I think most would agree that driving a supercar in congested London Roads is a bit daft -on the way to the paper shop last week, I heard a tremendous cackling high pitched whine and saw an Enzo being driven down Wandsworth Bridge Road at no more than 25mph - in the snow! WTF
The majority of people I know with v nice cars have worked v hard, creating employment and ffs if a car is their trinket of choice, why the big problem? and yes, they would probably admit to having a small willy... mid-life crisis, etc

i love how people throw money away to fuel a car industry that does no good to the earth, just to have car that has a personality, is cute, elevates their social standing, makes them think they are james bond etc etc
Marketing mans dream, the mugs that splash out on cars. regardless of what car they drive they are still being reeled in. with this in mind i win

Same as NJS bikes then?

If there were no cars on the road, I wouldn't ride a bike.

Balls.
I'm doing my bit. I slammed my car into a 1 1/2m high snow bank only last week. That'll teach it!Seriously though, while we're being all C+
[Unconnected rant/]There has been a load more under-fjord tunnels proposed around the city where I live. You cant cycle through these, and the ferrys they replace, near die out. Basically this means that I'm fast being cut off from the rest of this beautiful country. Which I've always looked at as cycling heaven (weather aside).[Unconnected rant]

+1. But then there will always be the James Martins of the world that race around the country lanes in there supercars.

They are not really marketed to hipsters though.. they've just become more desirable than other steel framed track bikes.

plus lots.
when they start imbuing machines with human qualities e.g Renault Megane ad (shake dat ass) that’s when things get really twisted, and minds go off kilter.I would say its called reification although im not as brainy as Greasy so could be just showing off pretending to be clever and am gona go back to riding bikes im better at that thangew. -

nah bollox. I win, I was the maniac that cycled into the beautiful wet dream machine in the first place. Don't try to steal mythunder

you can use supercars legally to the limit of your ability... track days. they're understandable pretty damn popular
pretty safe in that analogy with bikes too
-

So you're trying to say supercars are marketed to cocks as opposed to driving enthusiasts...?
-
• #1117
in London? pretty much.
how can you enjoy a supercar in London when there's barely room to let rip?
-
• #1118
So you're trying to say supercars are marketed to cocks as opposed to driving enthusiasts...?
Yep... cos otherwise you'd buy a Caterham.
Suck the doors off half the "super" cars out there, for the bargain basement price of £40 large.

• #1119
So you're trying to say supercars are marketed to cocks as opposed to driving enthusiasts...?
No. READ IT. I'm saying NJS frames are built for racers in Japan. They have a specific purpose. That a bunch of US and UK hipsters think they're rad is nothing to do with the Japanese Keirin association spending millions on pushing ads in the UK and US.

Look at most car ads.. do they show reality? Do they fuck. Empty roads.. zipping along.. pulling chicks.. what a load of horseshit. So, yeah, most cars are marketed to cocks.
-
• #1121
Empty roads.. zipping along.. pulling chicks..
sounds like my commute.
...except you missed out massive skidz.
-
• #1122
^^ NOW I'm saying cars are marketed to cocks. Since I don't remember seeing Ferrari advertising on DAVE I'm not even sure how supercars are marketed.
-
• #1123
Clarkson, JKay, That fat chef twat who almost killed those cyclists.
They are all the biggest cocks around and the biggest super car fans. Is there a correlation? Definitely. Does owning a supercar make you a cock. Who knows. If I had the money. I would buy the biggest fastest motherfucking car known to man and race it on tracks. I wouldn't drive it around London acting like a cock
