They don't like rich cunts showing up in £1million cars?

That's fucking ridiculous. Before anyone chirps up about how stupid it is to have a supercar when "you can't use it", that's a load of bollocks, the same way some people would prefer a custom Mercian to a Langster when to be brutally honest, they both do exactly the same job.
-
• #1081
Wrong. Mercian and Langster under human subject will achieve about the same speed.
Supercar will NEVER legally be utilised properly on the roads.
-
• #1082
Why not? Supercars are all about speed and power contrary to popular belief.
BTW, i'm very far from being a supercar myself (F40 excluded, obviously) but I don't see why I should be against people who like them. I don't smoke as to me, it's a silly thing to do, though I don't go around throwing peoples cigarettes away because I don't smoke them.

Supercars are also for pulling chicks when you're devoid of charm and have a small penis.
Do you see me campaigning for the banning of supercars on public roads? No.
I like cars. I like drag racing. I like touring car racing. Rally. Doesn't mean I can't criticise the thickos stuck in traffic with a 600hp £1mil car.. while I roll past on my second-hand Condor. I'm not going to smash the guy's windows though. I'm MORE likely to criticise the dickwad in the Mondeo who takes me out because he's in a hurry to meet his mates at Maccas.
-
• #1084
Definitely, some people buy them to pose in, some people buy little MX5's to pose in too, they're still great cars. Sure they're pointless when you're stuck in traffic, much like a completely solid track bike is pointless for cycling around the city, doesn't stop a load of people doing it and enjoying it.

• #1085
What's a completely solid track bike?

Super cars are wasteful, same as building a super house (as seen on Grand Design) for two and using 80 lights for the corridor and say "yes but there are low energy so we are helping the environment".
But if it is how they decide that it is the best way to spend their money then be it.

Those stiff little buggers that you can feel every single imperfection on the road through your arse and hands with.

Supercars aren't that ineffecient, especially when compared with the quite large amount of old pieces of crap that are driving around. And i'm willing to bet that a Ferrari cruising around London will pollute less than some idiot in a modded 106 blasting around London, as they tend to do.

No.. because even guys with small dicks need a chance..

lol just yanking yer plank hips

Just for a bit of reference, a Ferrari Enzo is rated at 14.4mpg in the city which is more effecient than this:

and less efficient than..

So are all cars, so why pick out supercars? And why not focus on that Audi more as it's more wasteful?

My point, was that spending so much money on a car is wasteful. And people buy pieces of crap because that is all they can afford and they have as much right as to go around places as a rich person. A rich person should actually contribute to society and set an example of generosity, buying a Ferrari shows off their wealth and their self-importance.

They're both half as efficient as a Polo.. so they're both shit..

You could say the same about people spending ridiculously large amounts of money on a bike (in my opinion anyway). But if your point is about people spending large amounts of money on a car as opposed to the car itself, why is there never a mention of those people in the middle east with their fleets of gold Rolls Royces?
Personally, I would never drive in London, let alone drive a supercar in it. But I don't feel like I have a duty to criticise those who do. Like I said, some people buy £500k Ferraris as a status symbol, some people buy £5k BMWs as a status symbol. Some people buy £500k Ferraris for performance and fun, some people buy £5k BMWs for fun. If people have the money, why shouldn't they be allowed to spend it how they please? They're not harming anyone are they?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Polo#Fuel_economySo by that logic, a Polo is shit compared to a Prius?
There's a lot more to a car than an MPG figure.
-
• #1098
Polo is a lot cheaper than a Prius. As for harm.. well, why is there a big push to reduce emissions if there's no harm in them? What about the road toll? I don't mind people owning cars. I encourage them to choose other methods of travel where possible though.

my completely solid track bike was designed for just that, when doing the geometry we gave it less of a traditional (ultra aggressive) geometry so it would be more comfortable on the roads all day. its a bike i built to ride everyday rain or shine on track or tarmac, and it has done everything its been put through beautifully.

You write as if it was your duty was to defend people who drive expensive cars though.
People choose to spend their money on what they want but let's not say it is not harming anyone. Everything we do has an impact. If I choose to have something that I really do not need then I am responsible for wasting resources and for depriving people. It is like sharing food with 10 people. If I put half of the dish on my plate then there is less for the others. We are all responsible of our actions.
To buy something for just a status symbol is wasteful. A 500k Ferrari to a £5 sparkly jumper at Asda just to show off make people terribly unhappy and grasping. We have been fooled into thinking that having the best things will contribute to our happiness but look at the grief when those things are taken away from us or when we can't get them.
That would kick arse.. so long as I got a ride.
