That's insane.
Simon, interested in how you get on with the pebble.

I tried on the non-tourbillon version in Harrods over the summer. 24g all in and amazing. TBH was pretty surprised they even let me. No harm in asking.

Did you make a run for it? Hope you made a run for it!

"Established in 1918, collection includes Ocean Star Sport and Multifort." Fuck, he's old for a footballer!

Old and fat.

Why's everyone picking on ChainBreaker?
Because his light-as-a-sparrows-fart bike was finished and he turned his attention to watches. But ugly, heavy ones.
Apologies Iain, I know that your bike was subsequently scoused.

Mido’s name comes from the Spanish term “Yo Mido” which means “I measure” and was primarily marketed to the Hispanic regions of the world. Since the time of its launch in 1934, the Multifort was the first self-winding, antimagnetic, shock- and water-resistant watch in the world.

I decided I fancied something that I could just grab without having to worry about it having the correct time, being wound, etc so just picked up one of these. Solar powered and meant to have a six month power reserve:

I think CB's response to all of the ribbing that's been going on is commendable and testament to his good character (albeit with shocking taste in timepieces).
It reminds me of when all this was trees and forumites could muck about without noses getting put out of joint and WWIII being declared via the keyboard in a 14 year olds bedroom.
Props for being a good-sport CB.

That project was to test how light I could make a road worthy fixed gear because everyone punts that about single speeds yet base it on stiff but heavy as Fuck components.
The watches, other than my daily aren't as bad as you say. Big yes, but it's not on a reed of a wrist either. Anything under 40mm looks rather ridiculous on me. In fact even 40 is probably too small.
I agree, there are many more prettier watches at or below 40 but that's not my fault. If the junghans was a 43 or 44 I'd be all over that. But it's not.
But all I seeing punted here are rolex and silly divers.
Hell, TS likes g shock ffs...

What got my goat is the fact that everyone ummm and oooo's over the IWC vintage AquaTimer but the same people poo poo the Mido.
Same style, same size. I love both because I love the styling. In fact, Mido brought it out first (which I'm sure someone will show an earlier watch). It's like people only like the IWC because it's expensive.
I really like some of the watches from Maurice Lacroix but because it's not expensive, it's not cool...
... Unless it's a seiko divers.

Solar Seiko is cool. Wish they sold one that was a bit simpler, with a brown leather strap.

Cheers. I went on the seiko website and didn't see half. Guess that's their current range though.

Seiko's website it's pretty shit... best is to google Seiko Watches then just select 'Solar' as the movement type on any site you visit.

Hmm might just get that. Ever since you(?) posted a pic of a late 60s Omega Constellation recently in that auction, WANT. Basically my perfect watch. Been looking for a few. Funds aren't that great though, nearly had one for £300 on ebay the other day, but got outbid. One day....
Or I win the lottery and go and get a Jaeger-LeCoutre. My kinda watch.

The Seiko is nice but beware that the strap is not interchangeable. It doesn't have standard lugs:
The Constellation I posted is lovely. They tend to go for $$$ on eBay but i've seen a few in watch shop windows for a lot less in the past.

The SNE039P1 is nice and has standard lugs.... looks good w/ leather too:
Available for a good price on Amazon: Seiko Men's Solar Watch SNE039P1: Seiko: Amazon.co.uk: Watches
Cause they're knobs...
I'm waiting to see pictures of their lovely collections of classy timepieces.
