  • Personally I think the trend for very large watches is overrated, it is just fashion. My Armida A1 was humungous, so much so that it looked a bit silly so I moved it on, and I'm large build with big hands and wrists.

I actually prefer the slightly smaller scale of retro / vintage watches in fact I have a beautiful ETA Squale from the 70s that these days would potentially be classified as a woman's watch due to its size but it wears really nicely and is quite unique.

  • +1 My Rolex is only 36mm and wears better than any of my larger watches.

  • I know virtually nothing about watches but this thread is really interesting. Does anyone have any advice about cheap divers? Seiko look good

  • Seiko skx007 or skx009

  • Been working with the bossman and Bamford watches recently. We have three watches being released on thursday at Dover Street Market.

They are a bit crude but obviously unique and quite a bit of an investment!

  • Cheers cb ! Gonna take the plunge- no pun intended !
Now to choose Pepsi or straight up black

  • Pooface , is that a custom pvd deepsea ? How much is that ?

  • If you have to ask... #etc

I remember seeing a Vietnam era Ollech & Wajs pilot's watch with a bomber graphic on the dial (Google yields no results tho'), but that's ridick... ;P

  • Yep a deepsea seadweller because of its larger dial size.

the face is mother of pearl and look amazing in the flesh and on my wrist.

    only £30,000

  • I'll take 12.

  • there have only been 15 made. 5 of each style

  • We have Rolex in our Windsor store and bossman wears a Deepsea . Am sorry tho pooface dont like that at all . Can think of better ways to spend 30k .
How do you justify circa 22k over the " stock " one ?

  • It looks wank

  • Its 'Art' innit!

30k is cheap for the price that my boss normally sells his art for and this piece you can wear!

  • The sort of person that'd buy and wear that would wear a dogturd on their wrist if you told them it was 'art'

  • art

  • Calling something " art " is one way of saying to people if they dont like it its because they are too thick to " understand " it !

  • Pretty sure you got that from Camden Market for a fiver.

  • Shoulda fuckin left it there...

  • Calling something " art " is one way of saying to people if they dont like it its because they are too thick to " understand " it !

So true! Just the sort of bullshit I got fed up with at art school. Too many navels gazed at, too many chins stroked.

The strap reflections look awful. You should light and shoot for the face, bezel and strap with separate shots and then comp them afterwards...
Those ads you see in magazines of watches (or any product ad) are made up of loads of photos, all lit for different bits.
Some good lighting advice in the video though!

    retouchingthread >>>>>>>>

  • Whats the general consensus on the 7002 seiko divers?

  • ^ Good solid watch, can't go far wrong, but be warned once you start getting into watches and collecting it can become somewhat er, addictive...

"Hello, my name's VanUden and I'm a watchaholic"

  • oh dear, i have trouble enough with my bike addiction....

    • thanks for the advice
