My latest acquisition. Admired them for years decided to buy one on a whim the other day when it dropped to a price I didn't think I was at risk of losing anything on it if I decided to only keep it a year or two. Its very substantial.

G-Shock is not a watch, just an indicator of time, like the numbers on a laptop screen.
It has no essence of craftsmanship, no soul, no value outside it's function - as Horolo-gits (sp) we should burn them all. #changemymind
I saw a horological exhibition at the V&A a few years back, all the way from sundials through the age of clockwork, ship's clocks for navigation, the race for longitude and its relation to the British Empire, through pocket watches, moving to the wrist in WW1, then swiss watches, the quartz explosion, the reemergence of swiss watches as luxury horology, right up to now.
The very last exhibit in the timeline was a radio controlled 56xx G shock, one you could pick up in an argos for under a hundred quid. And it made perfect sense to me.
It's arguable that a G Shock has anything to do with horology - I would say it does, but I see why people might argue otherwise - but they absolutely have everything to do with telling the time accurately. And until relatively recently, that was the entire purpose of horology. All the beautiful and imaginative and artisan stuff they invented and built and polished, it was a all a sideline to the purpose of telling the time accurately. Only in our lifetimes has that become an afterthought.
I love my G Shock. It's not my favourite watch I own, but I could make a strong argument for it being the best watch I own.

Always loved the orange planet ocean. Something so nicely proportioned about them, and the colour is lush.

The radio controlled ones are as accurate as the atomic clock at Greenwich - that's proper horology. It puts every mechanical movement in the second division. I'd like a mechanical movement with radio control. Every day it could correct itself. You could watch it happening.

It’s quite a classic vibe on a black strap, the dial has a lot of subtle detail but the colour is a trad cream. It does feel modern still but it works on lots of different strap colours - I have a black ostrich strap that is my go-to if I want one of my GSs to look a bit smarter.

The stock strap is dark brown textured calf with a deployant, it’s a bit fuddy-duddy for me.

Reposted as it was the last comment in the last page;
I want a Hamilton Boulton, there’s some in Japan that’s smaller (like how it is in the 40’s), but I’m concern whether it may be a fake, or it’s genuinely JDM, I know it’s likely the latter but would like opinion on here.

Is it not just an older/vintage smaller version, not the recent upsized reissue?

It’s a Citizen. 1960. 15 years of service gift for the Japanese postal service.
Buy TV's G-Lide. It's only £40 and you'll be able to flip it for the same amount.
You'll find that irl many of them wear really easily due to their lug length, strap taper, height and weight. Obvs there are some proper chunky boys out there, but take the Casioak. It's 11.9mm thick. So just under a Rolex GMT and less than a moon watch.
