  • Ok 1 last one-
    bespoke watch design
click on from scratch and have fun...

  • A friend of mine picked up an Omega a few years ago in Eastern Europe but I think it was an ex SS watch as it has a Swastika on the back, I don't think it would be right to get a photo and to post it up though.

why not? sound interesting, an historical watch.

  • this is what I really own.

    Both moody

  • Actually the Tudor might not be

  • Both moody

    because you know the owner!

  • Rolex Explorer 'Steve 'McQueen' from '73

    Currently £10k on ebay

  • Toying with the idea of getting this next

  • Oh yeah, if any of you get offered a brown faced Rolex that looks old, tell us.
and it seems too cheap to be right (or see it on eBay or something)
And then punch the guy in the bollocks and give it back.
It's my Grandad's, and my dad would like it back.

Hey Henry, without sounding like a pain in the arse, the more detail the better, what model was it? and if it has a brown face it's rare, as you said. I would have thought it was an explorer of some sort, some of the early ones of those had brown faces? and if you really want it back, then get your dad on the case with ebay too, the only problem with stolen watches is that they are so easily gotten rid of, people down the pub, yadayadayyada...

The early rolexes were the air king, the sea dweller and the milgauss, though you could custom any of them to your spec.

Talking of time...I had best leave, I am late!

Lovely watch I would love to own a Datejust

  • Lovely watch I would love to own a Datejust

I'm probably missing what you have said right, but that is an explorer (simple clean refined) the datejust (can be nice as in the top one) or is the one with the day, date, diamonds, whistles, bells, ...they can be as ugly as sin with a really over the top body and face...

and 'traditionally' that was the one they all used as a base for the fakes,..

  • @ Wingedangel I knew it was an explorer but a classic Rolex is the bee's knee's and the photo you posted of the DateJust is a watch I would love to own.

  • When I wear a watch which isn't too often nowadays, I have a steel and gold Date/Just, T-Bird with Howelite dial.

Second choice would be a steel and gold Submariner with blue dial and bezel. That and an 18K Daytona currently reside in a safe deposit box in a nearby bank, too clunky for everyday.

  • I have never liked Rolexes. Especially not the ones with a date, and that dirty great lump on the crystal. There must be something wrong with me, because they are the ones most sought after, and most faked as a result. I can't see the appeal myself.
That Explorer is the nicest one posted so far, but I still don't like the case shape or the general styling.

Gary Glitter owned one and it was used as a means of contact with like minded people.
