  • na, if PVD scratches it show's steel.
if stainless scratches, it show's stainless

  • get a fncking G-shock!

  • Don't scratch it.

  • don't wear it..........oh wait.

  • My PVD watches sit in a nice box to keep them scratch-free :)

  • ok, at the end of the day, a skx, is a tool watch, tough as old boots, reasonably cheap, wear it, abuse it.....

  • if you want a fancy/dress watch, keep it safe until you need it.

  • the hands on that are great.

    You know what?

That watch with this kinda bezel insert...

    And this kinda dial...

Would probably do me... I know they won't work together (made for different watches) but you get my drift...

  • ^ that is a painted aluminium bezel, it will last about 3 months

  • I'll buy 6... $10 a piece...

  • Ooops! $22 a piece...

  • Or I'll just stick a Nato on my Pepsi... Still haven't found my Flieger... :(

  • leather ??? :)

    sorry B)

  • Damn you all. Want all these watches.
Sorry for a completely ignorant question, but would an automatic Seiko 200m Divers be OK being used in the surf/ocean constantly? I have been told, also experienced watches failing unless they are rated beyond 300mtrs?? Also, does servicing these watches affect their water resistance?

  • ok, a 200m watch is probably good for about 656ft under water. not many men can do that.

  • As Murtz says most 200m watches are more than capable of coping with normal scuba diving. Servicing would only improve a dive watches water resistance because if done properly seals will be replaced if needed.

  • it is really day to make sure a diver is waterproof, shops say they have to be pressure tested (b0ll0x) as long as the seals are good, and silicone greased, that is enough for most wearers.
    even diving to 150m
    who does that?

  • I freedive to 150 to impress the laydeez.. yo.

  • ^ I dive for free to impress the laydeez.

  • Murtz and Co. had an email back from Jake of Dagaz Watches and he's not doing coated SKX parts any more. Shame because that all black Seiko diver on the green strap is lush.

Kind of true- the seals will resist ingress of water up to a depth of 200m/656' if the pressure is slowly raised to that level.

You can blow the seals on a 50m water proof watch if you dive off a medium height diving board- as you are forcing the watch to encounter a very rapid pressure increase to (potentially) beyond it's seals rating.

A watch rated to 200m would be fine to about 300 feet, is the rule of thumb.

Ah, if this is accurate that could explain why I've had certain watches die. Certainly not from diving itself, just being smashed by big waves and tossed around like a rag doll. But then I've never had a proper divers rated watch. Time to invest I think.
