  • I think it suits that watch

  • ^too true. shark mesh takes a certain kind of watch to look good. and it has to be the real version with the spring pins held by the weave instead of those pressed ends.

  • There's a difference between full-on heavy-duty shark mesh and fine 'Milanese' bracelets. I like them both.

  • Am really digging Squale at the moment, picked up a 50 Atmos on shark mesh recently and managed to track down a 1970s NOS Squale in PVD, Beretta do the coatings same as for their guns.

Am very tempted by that Armida A1 bit I thinned out my collection before Christmas only to now see it back to where it was again...

  • Kinetic watches. Thoughts?

  • I have a seiko kinetic. Runs forever... The only thing I would say is that the rotor is a bit noisy / grindy

  • Been wearing my 1940s (apparently) Marvin all day, it hasn't stopped or lost any time. Perhaps it just needed wearing for it to work reliably.

Still, needs must - for sale at £50 delivered to your very doorstep.

  • Limes Leviathan

  • Nice one mate.

I do like the blue ones too.

I got a call from a company with a white Air King Date for not much more than that earlier. Will take a look at it tomorrow and if its not pucker will look at that one next. Cheers mate.

  • you gotta have the date bubble...

You seem to be a dive watch geek like myself. Been lusting after a doxa for some time now, hadn't realised that Squale actually supplied the cases for several doxa models not to mention many other high end swiss brands.

  • Doing some research for a work project - does anyone here have any links for watch manual archives for different brands? (or one big archive for lots?)

  • Since when did the Air Kings have hands that end in a point?
Mine from 2004 has rectangular hands

Quite like that. Understated. Don't know much about Marvin though.

  • Early Marvin movements were quite nice. Patina on that dial is heavy but also nice. I'd say late Forties to early Fifties by the arrowhead markers. Also very much due for a service by the sound of it.

  • Yeah it's difficult to photograph the condition; I will try again when I've got more time. It certainly needs a service!

  • Having browsed several sites for modern Seamasters, pricing seem to vary quite dramatically.

What would you think a good price is for a Seamaster 2264.50? With box and papers.

    I love Doxa's

  • Yeah the doxa mil sub is one of my all time faves, determined to own one one day.

  • While I'm getting over my vintage watch buying frustrations I'm finding myself becoming quite fond of this

Generally on topic, my dad has been collecting wristwatches since I know of myself, mostly military, pilot and divers watches, big part of his collection going on Speedmasters. It's an incredible hobby, good way of investment and making money if you have enough knowledge on your account.

  • Well, progress of sorts.

I've bought an 80s 32mm Air King Date for a very good price. So good that I started to worry so I just popped to a shop that services Rolex and they say that apart from a slightly incorrect aftermarket crystal (cheaply replaceable they said) it is in fine shape and pressure tested fine.

I'm a very happy bunny. The bracelet endpieces are damaged so I have ordered some replacements and also a new crystal. Not long before I have them fitted and have my new pride and joy on my wrist.

  • Great! Now where are the pics?! How much BTW, if you don't mind me asking?

I find myself a bit meh about those branded chrono's. But it is a good way of making money as you say from people who think that they are buying a watch made by Junghans.
