There is not much to say apart from get the one you like. I like the SNE571P1 and SNE569P1 (and the other SNE##### watches) because of it's classic sizing/vintage looks and solar.

Do you want a divers watch or one of the general / field type watches like the Alpinist?
Either way, a lot of the Prospex line has been pushed up to £800+ so if you want an automatic you'll be looking at one of the 4R movement equipped models like the basic Turtle (great watch but not small at 44mm), the Samurai, or the Monster (which I also really like).
The 6R-equipped Alpinists, some of which are as small as 38mm, start at about £600 RRP or £650 for the larger 39.5mm model with the compass bezel - but all can probably be found cheaper if you shop around.
Quality is very similar on all of them. The more expensive ones have slightly fancier movements (but not much), sapphire crystals instead of Hardlex (acrylic), and usually better finished cases and bracelets.

New flagship GS / Seiko store on New Bond Street coming this autumn. Existing store in Knightsbridge will close early next year.

Find Seiko you like. Enter MW25 at checkout. No tax as you’re out of state. Profit.
Or check out Gnomon. They have a sale on most Prospex references at the moment. No imports up to $800.
Just buy what you like 🤷🏻♂️

I've gone full circle and am back looking at Seiko Samurai.
Might get one of last years Black Series (with the orange minute hand) or this year's Nightvision. Not buying this side of August though, best start the new job before celebrating it.

I dont like the look of the lugs too much. What do you like about the watch?

Sweet. Imho those are better. Mine's not a chrono, but calendar. So annoying to keep up to date.
But all Polarises are gems. Still slept on by most people. -

I've been wearing the baby alpinist pretty much two weeks straight. Really quite dig it.
Would normally be annoyed by printed indicies but don't really mind on this.

Got a budget birth year watch (clock actually) for my 40th. Trying handsets after replacing the old electric movement for a new non-ticking UTS quartz. Not very fancy or high tech but I really love the font and the simplicity of the dial. Just need to decide whether to keep the aluminium case original (golden silvery grey) or sand it and it paint it something jazzy like sage green…

@Scilly.Suffolk 😂 I got so confused by the logic (or lack of) behind that design decision that I have blocked it out to the point that I just read 1,2,3,4… a bit like the IIII instead of IV in other dials…
@ChainBreaker thanks! Not bad for £30, was tempted by classic Braun clocks reissues but they looked a bit plasticy in photos and this is all metal so it seemed a bit more durable. The Mondaine Stop2go was also in the shortlist but the price was £££ and I wanted a bit of a project -

I quite like the numerals. Also the fact that it's an old post office clock. Like you say, in the same group as mondaine. The utilitarian time piece from organisations that time is important. At that price, bargain!

Looking for new straps this morning and came across this GS which I've never seen before and a quick Google isn't coming up with info on model but wow that dial 😳
The strap is Delugs

Yeah, they were a special edition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 9S movement and the dial is a mix of the GS letters with the old Daini Seikosha symbol. It's a bit greyer than that IRL. Jack Forster was wearing his when I got a selfie with him. /csb

Yeah, GS are punchy at retail let alone special edition second hand. If I could have any for free it would be the "Shunbun" version

Peacock for me

That's a really big difference!
Ok can someone school me on Seiko Prospex automatics? Say I want to spend about 400 GBP /500 USD on one what should I be looking at?
