    Oops...

Just get a uniform wares and you won't regretting spending the same amount of money on a Nixon in two years time. (speaking from experience)

  • Don't do that. Work out how much you want to spend and then ask on here if anyone's got anything they might want to sell for that amount.

Do your homework and you might get a result.

  • Not sure if you're just after a load of nice photos or a bit more but this book is incredible:

    Watchmaking: Amazon.co.uk: George Daniels: Books

Just bought this for my dad, hope he likes it.

  • Nixon have nice designs, movements can be a bit dodgy, both mine and my brothers broke after a few months and had to send it to scandinavia under warranty. That was about 7 years though, they may have improved.

  • Could I get some recommendations for a nice coffee table book please? Maybe a history of or something?

    For a Christmas gift like

WEMPE - The Art of Horological Complications

More of a watch geek's book than for the coffee table.

Started around 2000 and free from the Wempe showroom or mailing list.

Each year's volume focuses on, and fully explains, a different complication.

I collected the first 5 or 6 and then lost track. Singles and full sets can be found on eBay.

They probably have, my old watch was the Scouth and the ex brought me the Murf which was an awesome looking if chunky watch.

They're not exactly amazing watch nor the most stylish, but they're decent if a touch expensive for what they are.

  • This watch repair blog is blowing me away:

  • Well I jut got given the nixon for fixing the original owner's other watch so I'm pretty happy with it for now.

  • If only the images on this thread were smaller i would spend hours looking at it...

Does any-one make something like the iwc fliegers that don't cost thousands?

Stowa, Laco, Archimede... There's loads about!

  • huh? the images on this thread... the super large images are obvious to my bosses

  • And?

  • Yeah....hardly big cocks and fanny's

Your boss gonna slap your wrist for looking at a watch??

  • Was given this recently, it was my Grandfathers, possibly bought in the 60s.
Does anybody know anything about it? Ive had a google, but cant seem to find out very much relating to this specific model/type

  • Very handsome.

  • I like certina...

    very nice that!

  • I have a late '60s GMT master with the original bracelet. It has plenty of stretch and I don't trust it. A replacement costs £1200 so I got an after market bracelet from china. After a good inspection I'm not sure I trust that.

My question is does anyone know where I can source a good quality aftermarket bracelet? I have heard that the Italian makers of previous Rolex bracelets may now produce aftermarket bracelets but I have been unable to find who they are.

  • yobokies out of hong kong or thereabouts sell some solid bracelets. also look for a maker called wjean. they are specific to the seiko divers, but are modelled over the classic oyster and jubilee designs etc.

  • 2nd hand Omegas

Where to find well kept ones in London? I've just received some money from a relative and whilst most of it will be going towards my new flat, I can probably spare around £750-£1,000 for a nice 60s Seamaster...

This is the kind of style i'm after:

  • ^ thinking about it, i should probably just send him a pm... :)

  • no no no... we all want to know

  • Seamasters are the domain of Pistanator and Murts.

    I'm a Constellation man.

I'm with dmczone, 1964 Constellation FTW. Although I do have a 007 co-axial escapement Seamaster. So maybe I actually have splinters up my harris from too much fence-sitting...

Seriously though, don't spend any more than £700 on a good vintage Seamaster. You should be able to get a great example for between 500 to 600.
