  • in my head it sums up like this.
you buy a rolex for the case and you buy a gs for the content.

Pretty much this, but GSs ain't cheap anywayz!!!

  • Anyone go to SalonQP a few weeks back?

  • but GSs ain't cheap anywayz!!!

This is what amused me about the whole interaction, especially the bit about the student population of this forum.

I was also talking about high end Seiko not just GS. A bloody amazing second-hand Seiko can be picked up for a few hundred quid. Not out of the limits of an impoverished student.

I was mentoring yesterday at an advertising college called the SCA in Vauxhall and couldn't help but notice that while these students whinged about the expense of living most of them had iPhones...

  • First world students.

  • First world students.

Hey, we say what we see. My Mrs is Jamaican and she laughs at much of the stuff we sweat over. It's all relevant depending on where you're coming from.

  • My missus is Espanish and thinks the stuff that we worry about is hilarious.

  • Good man! It is all bollocks. This is my latest quandary, I'm so tempted by the baby GS Seiko I posted pic of and have been offered a fantastic price on it because of my Japan connections.

However, work with a regular client has dried up for next week and I'm now hawking around. Don't want to lose out on the deal but don't want to over stretch myself when work is harsh. What would you do?

  • Order it and worry about it later.

An old queen said to me years ago "We're only here once and this is no dress rehearsal".

  • Ts? ^

  • I've already lived ten of your human lifetimes, the Dark Lord can take me anytime he pleases...

  • Yeh, just get the GS.

  • Rolexes are ordinary watches in ugly blingy cases. I hate the look of them all, except the ones Rolex refuse to sell, with the PVD coating.
The stylish reliable 911 of the watch world is the Omega Speedmaster Pro. That's the one that hasn't changed in decades and will never let you down.
Rolexes are more like those 1000SEL Mercs from the 80s that German tuners knocked out.

  • Have to agree about the speedmaster. I just wish they'd remove all the ZOMG! F1RST WATCH ON THA MOON! Engravings on the back...

  • It's all part of the charm. And it is on the back.
Which is more than can be said for the specials with Apollo badges on the front.

  • Speedmaster is the bomb. I have 3 Omegas in my collection, they are all unique and beautiful but each to their own!

  • BTW I've 'lost' my O&W Flieger, can't fucking find it anywhere...

  • ^ Likewise my Rolex Oyster...Haven't seen for 4 months..Not a boast seriously worried...

  • Yeah, me neither... It'll show up...

Looks good on my wrist whistles

    ;)

  • ^ Ha, shouldn't of passed over your wedding rings so easily...still got the box BTW

  • Get it off you next weekend at Duckett's do? Nice one :)

  • yup, No dressing up for it though, you?

  • Fuck that... Nice one see you there.

  • Does any-one make something like the iwc fliegers that don't cost thousands?
