  • I've not seen the co-axial version in the flesh yet but I think I'm going to like it when I do. It is a bit taller because of the auto movement and it really doesn't need a date but the case shape and polishing is a thing of beauty.

The limited edition in the centre looks nice. Can't really tell if it's the rio version with 2 tone strap.

  • its a lot taller because it's automatic and for me the proportions weren't as balanced .
I wore it a lot mind you .

  • As far as modern quartz watches go, I think this is a banger.

  • I will have a Zealando or whatever on Tuesday, will let you know šŸ‘

  • Okay! Thanks

  • it kind of is, until you see this image and realised it's also the perfect watch for the jeans and sheux crowd

  • Grim

  • Yeah, have to admit that photo really puts me off it. Will try one on next time I'm in Alsal though.

Another thing I struggle with Bulova is some of their watches don't have AR coating and as a result the mineral glass clarity is a little wayward.

  • Lucky his thumb got in the way, that pic makes me twitch imagining the zip scraping the side of a nice watch.

  • There was a recent Hoodwinkee piece, canā€™t remember which one, and the comments lost their shit about a Rolex being worn like that next to a metal pocket zip. Makes me anxious too.

  • It's the massive newness of the jacket that hurts. Probably returned to the shop after the photoshoot with the tags still on it. Poser watch for posers.

  • Cool - maybe drop me a PM when you know?

  • Ok, our fridge freezer just died so I could really do with shifting these watchesā€¦ pics in the original post:

Seiko SBDC065, aka SPB083, aka Marinemaster 200, aka ā€œGreat Blue Holeā€ special edition. Runs within COSC. Comes with both steel bracelet (spare links included) and the original blue silicone rubber strap, which is unworn and never fitted. RRP Ā£1060. Cheapest online that I can see is Ā£845. Looking for Ā£600 ono.

Casio GMW-B5000D-1ER aka the ā€œfull metalā€ G-shock. Polished steel case
and full stainless steel band. Worn only a couple of times. Ā£300 ono.

I bought them both new and have looked after them carefully. Both are
boxed and complete with warranty cards, spare links etc.

    SBDC065 now Ā£550

    GMW-B5000D-1ER now Ā£250

  • Advice needed on repairing a Speedy Reduced.

I have epilepsy and had a seizure last week. Usually my watch survives unscathed. Not this time. Scratch to the headline Crystal, which I can live with. Unfortunately the bracelet clasp seems to have been twisted or similar and now when I try to close it, it springs straight back open.

Ideally, Iā€™d like the original bracelet repaired. Any ideas if thatā€™s possible?

If not, then I could look at replacing with another - NOS seem stupidly expensive. Any recommendations on other straps/bracelets available at 18mm?

  • Sorry to hear that, thats really bad luck!

I would have thought that a decent watch repair person would be able to get your bracelet back to how it was with a little manipulation. Might be worth talking to Alsal if you wanted to try a cheaper option first.

Not sure about how much it costs for a new crystal for an Omega.

  • Frustrating! It not like you were being careless, just bad luck.

Maybe @smackerjack could help? Heā€™s a watch repairer. Iā€™ve used his services and would definitely recommend the quality of his work

  • Thanks all. Iā€™m up near the Strand anyway on Friday so might take the opportunity to pop into Alsal. Up for other options though too

  • I reckon you can fix that yourself with some careful bending. Or worst case swap out the clasp.

  • headline Crystal,

hesalite crystal? You might be able to buff that out with polywatch

    hope that helps.

I think @dammit had a bad scuff on his and did a good job buffing it out.

  • Swim and apres swim

  • Ejay2.0 may be able to help. Perhaps drop him a PM.

  • Does anyone know any good watch repair places in the west of London? Iā€™ve used Alsal in the past but itā€™s a bit of a schlep from where I live and wfh etc etc
