my son has taken ownership of the trusty f91w lockerbie, so i was thinking up out one of the murder black jobs.

I've always bought them from g-shock.co.uk. I guess sold out versions might push £400 but fuck paying that. They're a little overpriced at £100.

i also just got a massive kick in the bricks when my speedmaster came back from a service. added £80 per year of ownership...

A friend's dad was a real-deal Typhoon/Lightning/Harrier top gun and he showed me a really nice 7120 that he held on to when he retired in the late 80s. Those are a bit spendy now but I do like some of the civilian variants. Very cool.

Yeah, I like the RAF version. But I marginally prefer the simplicity of the 701A dial (fewer elements). Plus the latter is around half the price...

Don't understand why all g-shocks aren't solar as standard :/

Solar + multi band 6 would make it perfect, but I suspect that maybe they don’t do solar with analogue hand watches because they drain too much power. The battery on the GA-2100 only has a 2 year lifespan IIRC, the original aim of the G-Shock was a 10 year battery life (that was before any solar version).

I have the AQ-S810W and it's like £30 in shops and also has both.

plenty of solar analogues in the G stable, prices are higher than the 2100, but not massively.

I have an (admittedly premium model) MTG which is solar multi band, with alarms, stopwatch, countdown, day, date, etc
(no digital display though)
