  • He says that he'll take it, and just put it away and when he's asked why he's not wearing it he'll say it wasn't really his cup of tea. If he wears it once or twice then no worries - I'm getting a great price and he says if his wrist schvitz affects the strap then he'll replace that too.

I am waiting a while for it though.

  • Congrats on the IWC Port. Can't wait to see it Paul.

G, were the new pilots at Harrods?

Every shop is giving different release dates and prices.

Yep, had their own seperate stand away from the main counter

  • Yep, had their own separate... "stand away from the main counter"

Was he armed ? but in a very nice uniform ?

  • nice one of my favourite seiko chrono's in that colour way, there is another not as nice. seen a few of the bezel inserts NOS on the 'bay.
will sort a starp out. 19mm?

Ooh, I'll keep an eye out for the bezel insert...
Yeh, the lugs are 19mm. Strange size.

  • Not really, it was quite a common size thdn, my diver is the Same

  • Murts, got my watch back from Seiko, so lets talk straps, and customisation. I'll head over to wests next week and we'll discuss..

    Thanks Graham!

I went by the IWC boutique today and tried on a few of the new models.

Other stores won't have them for months.

  • @Corndog, sure thing, se you there

  • .

  • Just got home to find this waiting for me. Had this for over 20 years, and never been able to even have a shower wearing it.
Ken Setser, over in Florida, put a Rolex Trip-lock crown in it for me. He has had it since september, waiting for some parts.
Made the starp when I got the confirmation shipping email :)
This is probably as tough as you can get.

  • it says the link doesn't work. looks sick though!

  • never mind... it refreshed and now works

  • Anyone here tried regulating a mechanical watch?

I've done it with my Girlfriend's watch which worked well.

I dropped my 1998 Omega Dynamic the other day, and now it runs about 40mins fast a day. Can I try the same by regulating it, assuming it's consistently fast in most positions?

  • if it runs more than a few minutes per day, regulating will do nothing.
I dropped one of mine a while back, it too runs 30 minutes + per day.
It could have got oil on the mainspring.
which will need a clean at least.
Regulating only works for + / - a few minutes each way.
I have to get mine done too.

  • I quite like that feature of my old Seiko World Time. It means I'm never late for the school run.

  • Thanks for that, guys.

FUUU.... Oh well. It's about time I had it cleaned.

  • I want this for one reason.

  • Your name is Philip?

  • I had the same problem with my skx175. It suddenly started gaining a few hours every day. it turned out the cure was to slap it into the palm of my hand to release whetever it was that was stuck. It returned to running a bit too slow and is now in for proper regulation.
So for Seiko 7s26 running exceptionally fast; bang it caseback first against something.

  • that was the first thing I tried :)

  • Should I risk giving the Omega a slap? It has an auto rotor which maybe makes it slightly less happy about being knocked about (I managed to break the rotor off once an it needed a new screw).

  • Seikos are the kind of watches that you can try to fix by hitting them without feeling too bad. Omegas are not.

Get it looked at, don't risk breaking something.

I recently dropped my skx007 from the top of my staircase and it fell about 10 feet. Thought it was the end but it's still within 10 seconds a day.

  • Yeah, I only dared to try because I read it was a common problem with those and the fix was explained. But that's watch making I can understand.

  • This one:

    Or, this one:

  • Top.

    I'm biased.
