  • Each to their own though right ?

I don't like any of them; I'm much more of a traditionalist. I only highlighted what one watchmaker is getting up to.

  • Have a look thought the Seiko 5 range, which all use a similar auto movement.

    http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-automatic-sports-89/

I really like some of those- prices are in dollar, would you recommend purchasing from that site or is there a UK/Euro one that would be better?

  • raci........

lol, I didn't even think of that as I wrote it.

And anyway, lots of my friends are horologists.

  • @Dammit - creationwatches are fine, I've used them twice. You can toggle the prices to gbp at the top right.

  • Any offers on what watch is Paul wearing here?

  • Paul Smith City classic. I think...

  • balls...

  • I reckon he's an old Omega man.

When not shamelessly promoting his own stuff.

  • They're quite nice, but I just get a bit (perhaps unreasonably these days) turned off by watches from fashion houses.

I'm also liking this today, am really rather tempted to buy it. £930 - fair price? It's via poshtime.

  • I think it's unreasonable to get turned off if they are decent watches for the price, but +£200 for a quartz watch is pretty pricey.

Designers watches (Burberry, Gucci, etc) can run into thousands for a quartz.

  • Some of the big fashion houses are starting up their own movement production though, I can't remember which of the top of my head. A few were covered in Vanity fair's free "on time" supplement recently.

  • It has arrived... couldn't be happier really. it keeps time just as well as my 12 month old SKX007 which is amazing seeing as its exactly 40 years old.

The strap is one of these. I got my NATO from the same place and its all quality stuff. It was a fucker to put on as its 20mm double-thickness nylon and the lugs are an annoying 19mm so it involved a bit of huffing and puffing. Anyway, its an intermediatory until Murtz can rustle-up something in brown suede.

  • Met someone in the pub tonight wearing a bloody nice dress chrono, complimented him on it, and he handed it over for me to take a look. One of these.

Uuugh. It actually hurt, quite how gorgeous that was in the flesh. I'd rather have the perpetual though of course.

  • Better with a black face

    *yeah I know, rac......

  • I've just ordered my one.

  • I was in Harrods yesterday looking for a new starp for mine....they had some Ltd Edition 'Harrods Only' pieces

    droolface

  • "Harrods only" usually means "bowel-shatteringly tasteless" but I get the impression that these are going to be different from the usual bejeweled offerings.

  • Pilots watches in khaki colours

    REAM!

  • Hmm. Not too sure about that. PVD coatings tend to come off. Did they get them done at ArmourTex?

  • Congrats on the IWC Port. Can't wait to see it Paul.

G, were the new pilots at Harrods?

Every shop is giving different release dates and prices.

  • Neither can I. I have a bit of a long lead time because a pal is taking it as his "staff watch" for 2012.

  • Murtz can rustle-up something in brown suede.

nice one of my favourite seiko chrono's in that colour way, there is another not as nice. seen a few of the bezel inserts NOS on the 'bay.
will sort a starp out. 19mm?
