  • Flavour...

  • Is it also a reason why they don’t have a sweeping second hand?

  • Might be to save energy, yeah, not sure. The minute hand doesn't sweep, it does a part-tick every 20 seconds or so. So the majority of the time, nothing is moving.

  • Don't think all quartz movements require small hands - my CWC quartz diver has the same hands as the auto version (no counterweights either) and they're decently sized. Seems fine with the ETA quartz movement.

Seiko uses high torque movements in the 7C46 Tuna movements. The hands on my tunas are definitely pretty beefy so can see why they want extra torque there.

And there are some quartz movement with sweeping hands but the battery life goes way down. Of course if you want an auto that ticks once per second you need to pay big money!

  • One of their nicest models in my opinion, really like the cream dial version and the movement but wayyy out of my budget.

  • You a dealer now?

  • You a dealer now?

    What gave that away?

  • I don’t have a shop (yet🤭), if that’s what you’re asking.

  • These are sweet. @Regal what do you reckon?

  • For those who play videogames;

In Metro: Exodus, in The Two Colonels DLR; one of the colonels is seen wearing a Vostok with an exaggerated lume.

  • Doesn’t Bill Murray wear one in the ‘life Aquatic’ the Cousteau spoof.
I like the Vostok watches ... so tough , so cheap , such a wobbly crown though .

  • Yup , I just checked

  • Funny that they don't want to say "Seiko".

Looks ok, I suspect the thin lugs will look weird with the height. Typography has the same digital spacing and scaling problems as the Longines. Also, combining Futura and Avant Garde isn't something I'd do, personally, but literally no one else in the world cares about that.

  • I have a vague idea what you’re talking about but I love it.

I have that feeling. Love it, but have no clue what it means.

  • I know he’s right though.

  • Funny that they don't want to say "Seiko".

    Touted by the manufacturer

  • I wanted that but they’re £££ compare to the standard one.

I like that the designer basically made it reliable by making sure that the movement will work when it get clogged with dirt and oil.

I come to appreciate quickset date tho.

  • Well I guess when he's usually making custom designs which are a year's worth of work for high level clients, you kinda want to keep that premium appeal and separate your brand.
On the flip side, if youre that into watches you're probably gonna do your research anyway.
I think the dimensions and attention to detail are there, not a fan of the Japanese characters or the "nipples" other than that it's pretty sweet.

I looked at this. Compared it to the OG Longines.

Goddamnit. You broke that watch for me.

    You monster!

  • I see (and get bothered by) this stuff all the time. It's the typographer's burden.

  • Is there genuinely no reason why it might have been done the way it was other than a limitation of a digital font? Kinda boggles my mind that nobody at Longines would have stopped it going out the door that way.

  • I thought it was the curve of the crystal distorting the text?

  • Originally I though it was because the images were a render and that in real life it would slightly different, but this head on seems to indicate that's not the case.

FWIW I really like it but when you compare the scale against the scale on the OG it kinda kills it for me.
