anyone any thoughts on these Seiko military watches?

Over half the thread is about those watches.
Mine is great, although it does run a little fast. Murtz posted a fix to it, I just haven't got around to it yet.

ha! OK, should have read the thread - weirdly I never even saw this thread until the other day. cheers

General opinion is that they are very much worth the money.
Pisti does not agree, and for that they gain extra kudos.

• #4931
ha! all things being equal that makes sense

I have that exact model ^^^^ on my wrist right now. Great watch and superb value.
-
• #4933
oh cool, how is the strap, looks a bit shiny and scratchy in the pics?
-
• #4934
Nope, very comfortable.
-
• #4935
OK, seems like the ticket then, cheers

• #4936
I replaced mine with one of the NATOs mentioned upthread.
-
• #4938
Yup. Very comfy.

is that botta watch by mario botta? it looks like his sort of style
I also really like Mario Botta's design but he's hugely unpopular these days as he's been written off as a postmodernist which I really don't think he is at all. It's a shame. I'm off the post some Botta in the buildings thread.

Ed - Outdoor GB seem to have best online prices for those Trasers - and for what it's worth, the movement in them seems to be a better Quartz by all accounts and very solid

I'm not fussed by Quartz as long it work reliably, the watch look like a good replacement for a non-nonsense everyday tough watch that I wouldn't wear my Seagull Chinese Air Force replica watch.
Thank for the link, I'll wait around to see if there's one for less than 150 smack'o, if not, I go for that.

prezzackerly! I like them

Casio in Covent Garden: Today is the last day they're open, before they close for a month. They have 20% off most stock (will give you 20% off everything if you ask), and other watches are as much as 85% off.

I'd double check the prices because the Traser I have (Black Storm Pro with date) seems to be £80 more expensive on this site than I paid for it (IIRC).
I'm no expert but I really like it. It keeps good time (not noticed it gaining ot losing any time), handles depth well and is really bright at night.

Is there a special trick to taking the existing strap off those Seiko military? The strap is very stiff and it's hard to push it back far enough to get at the pins - then I take it a watchmakers screwdriver will do?

Postmodernism is the new Modern (obviously) as everyone has been bludgeoned to boredom with danish sideboards and other 'mid mod'. I just bought a memphis light and it looks really fresh and fun where as 10 years ago i just didn't get it.
Re-appropriating post modernism - is that hypermodernism or something?
best get back to my beer...

No trick that I'm aware of. Push the strap to the side a little and pop the pins with a little screwdriver is what I did.

Or a knife. Works a charm on big rubber divers straps.
Ouch I felt that
