Hi Everyone,
Do any watch aficionados have contact details for Kevin Keast (Chequers RC; races at Herne Hill)? I wanted to get in contact with him re my watch, as he's a watch specialist as well as a cyclist. I had his number but can't find it now.
Thanks

it's the least technical looking one they have, the older ones look a lot better IMO

I just saved myself £271 by changing the batteries in my watch myself rather than sending it off to brietling. if you've got time and nerves...:)

can you still be saved in an emergency though fred? it's mad they charge that much. it doesnt affect your warranty does it?

The Emergency is an instrument watch with built-in microtransmitter broadcasting on the 121.5 MHz aircraft emergency frequency. Following a BMC crash or a forced skidding, the Emergency will broadcast a signal on which rescuers can home in. The Emergency's transmitter is activated by unscrewing a protective cap and pulling the antenna out fully, it will then broadcast for 48 hours. The transmitter's signal has a range of about 100 miles. This seems like a great idea but I wonder if any cyclists actually use this watch.

it's £271 once they've packaged it in eagle down and posted it to geneva or something. the batteries cost £5. The rest of the ££ is for changing a seal and "servicing" it. At the price of Swiss/European labour this amounts to about 30 minutes work. I did most of it myself. And it's out of warranty - if it breaks down I'll have to pay to have it repaired.

aye. I had to sign a contract when I got it saying that I'd pay the $10,000 fine if i set it off accidentally / when i was pissed / if it got stolen.
but with a dark blue face - for mountain climbing and piloting my private jet :p

Until recently, i had a very reliable British Army Issue watch. Which after coming off my bike, was completely smashed to bits.
Now im sporting a rather sleek looking Rotary watch which my father gave me for christmas. I cant stand not having a watch, such an annoying feeling!

Got quite a few ideas for my next one from this thread - loving the Seiko.
I am working on a small collection - couple of Omegas (Seamaster and a Dynamic) plus a Fortis Flieger and a Tag Heuer 1500 professional.

Can anyone recommend a good vintage Swiss watch repair specialist? My '60s-'70s Rodania dropped out of my pocket and, although it still works, there's definitely something metal loose in there now.
Thanks!
