Christ I haven’t looked st this thread in FOUR years.
Currently having problems wearing my watch, seiko divers with the plastic/rubber strap. Every time I wear it my eczema flares up, on the wrist I’m wearing it on. Think it’s the sweat build up, not certain. Just know if I don’t wear the watch the rash goes down..
Would a leather or metal strap cure/reduce the irritation?
If not are there any modern automatic pocket watches that don’t look like antiques out there, which I could replace it with. -

Some people seem to have an allergy to silicone straps. Maybe borrow a natural rubber strap and see what happens?

Nato strap?

I tend to wear steel bracelet watches a little looser. The stainless steel should be very neutral to the skin and with the added ventilation between the links that would be my suggestion to try.

I suspected I was having a similar issue with a stainless strap (exacerbated by rubbing on desk and an odd shaped deployant). The cheap elastic zuludiver I replaced it with seems to have solved the issue but leather has also been fine.

I was having a similar problem with a leather strap, thought maybe the buckle was giving me eczema. Went into Alsal. He takes a look, says 'Look, I could sell you a new strap, but you're just wearing it too tight. Let it out a notch'.
I did. He was right. -

Getting kind of tempted by a Seiko SARB017 Alpinist.
Seiko boutique has the new release of these in three different variations and a see through back. They are nice, but £650. The brown strap is still awful but they have a variation with a decent looking leather. The bracelet version is the same price.

Try a perlon or Nato strap, they're way more breathable and won't trap water.

👍 Nought wrong in that

Perfect 😂😂😂I wonder if they would let me custom that bit

I'd try a perlon. You can pick them up cheap (Eulit is good quality for the price) and they're very breathable.

Thanks. I'll have a look.

I couldn't find them on the UK online store - they were talking about them in the knightsbridge shop today when I popped in to try something else so I had a quick look. Think the movement has been down/sidegraded on the new ones, but someone who knows more than I will be able to confirm.

yeah would do but the notch below where I wear it currently feels super loose...

will look into those.

I have many, many issues with the design of this watch but you should follow your heart. The Seiko movement is solid, but you can get a real Seiko for that money, which might be a safer bet in terms of overall build and reliability.

Cosmetic issues or build issues? if it's cosmetic all good fire away and if it's build issues I'd rather know.
are there seikos is this style?
There is an element of saturation in watches now. A bit like frame builders back in the day... But then everyone loves a rare steed.
