I left it too late,
Shame, I love the utilitarianism of a vintage divers watch and that Seiko was spot on. No fuss, rugged reliability. -

it also had a newer second hand, which i think looks better, all you would need for that is a sapphire and it would last forever

I like that a lot. Model number?

That Timex (which looks interesting to my eyes) is the same price as a nice Seiko auto, and
auto > quartz.
Wait, is one actually allowed to even mention the existence of non-Seiko watches in this thread...?

I was going to link to that one earlier Murts, but the firefly page wouldn't upload. If I'd have had money I'd have bid...
Also Ordinata that's real classy.

Battery replacement question. I've a Traser that's rated to 200m. If I were to get the battery replaced by a local watch place woudl it still be waterproof? (at least to a couple of meters about as far down as I go).

as long as the gaskets are in good condition and in place, it will be fine

By coincidence, I passed Airbijoux in Geneva this morning. They had the B&R (the one on the right) in the window, and my first thought on seeing it was "Hey, that Timex I saw on lfgss looks just like that!"

Ooh! Was looking for a new driver's strap for my newly-arrived Rotary and spotted this...
Anyone know where I can get a leather driver's style strap? I'm after one with punched out holes, know the kind of thing I mean? Like this ^ but a single row of larger diameter holes along the length of the strap...

If you ask me, that is.£130 and Swiss so not quite sure what you're talking about, unless you've had a bad experience with the Ukr seller?

Search eBay for RALLY or PERFORATED straps.

The Ukraine is currently the world leader in pocket watch coversions and they make a very nice profit in turning low value pocket watches into high value wristwatches. It's £130 now but I bet it will finish much higher, and I think you'd be hard pushed to sell a redialled Doxa pocket watch for that. I've not bought one, but the feedback from those who have is that the quality is not what it might be.
Seriously though the major issue is the lack of shock protection. Pocket watches are designed to sit in relative security. Wristwatches are subject to rapid acceleration and deceleration which especially with the large balance wheel in a pocket watch greatly increases the chances of broken balance pinions. That said I've got a number of early wristwatches without shock protection that are just fine, but I've also got a number with broken balance staffs too!
General advice is that unless you know what you are doing - leave the Ukrainian (and Argentinian) sellers of this stuff well alone.

Where did you get the strap? I like the rings/buckles more than the ones I see on ebay.
