Are you sure you can't get one here in Aus? Citizen stuff is normally cheaper here. Whatever the outcome though citizen Australia will cover and service any citizen bought anywhere.... I used to shoot their watches for catalogues decades ago.... Those to tough watches are great though. Can't believe I never grabbed one when I had staff discount. -

I've been monitoring the situation quite closely since they reissued them last year, I did find one place selling them in Oz but they were quite a bit more expensive... And I hate paying retail for absolutely anything, I'm your classic immigrant type, tight as fuck... 😂
Very nearly grabbed one tax free from John Lewis last year but the postage was gonna be AU$200 so I passed...
I'm flying to London from Spain tomorrow so I'll hopefully pick one up on Saturday in Oxford Street...

I remember you saying about JL now. I utterly despise that company, quite glad you didn’t pay out to them.
In other news I put this on for the first time in a while, but only til i swap to the casio for cycling duties.

Is there a trick to getting manual watches going? I had one posted to me that the seller claimed was working but I've would it a little bit and it hasn't started ticking

Wind it a bit more?
-
• #37158
How much is a bit? Try ~ 40+ turns
-
• #37159
The answer was wind it a bit more and shake it a little. I was a bit worried about breaking it. Cheers.
Edit. It only seems to tick nicely when it flat on the desk. Is this something I can fix?

Pragnell in Stratford sells everything! Shit photo, 10:1 staff ratio wasn't conducive to taking photos inside whilst dreaming

Black face on the right..... Hmmmmm

That’s a balance issue, no? If it’s not ticking when at any angle but flat, then the balance is being interfered with. It could just be the movement is loose in the case, but probably it needs a proper service.
Also, I found it’s less about shaking the watch and more about a gentle tap or flick. If it needs such a motion to get going, probably it needs a service.
Tl:dr get it serviced

Where would a good place to get it serviced? It's got a Smiths movement. I had a look near me (Nottingham) but would prefer a recommendation

Worth taking 2 minutes and popping into H Samuels if you get the chance, I did 3 wks ago and got mine at -50% (albeit Edinburgh). I’d also been monitoring and certainly never noticed it listed in their online sale?

Does anyone know of somwhere reasonably close to Kings Cross that can regulate my Seiko OM?
-
• #37166
I read somewhere that Seiko solar can be a bad deal as all re-chargeable batteries eventually die. And when they do many solar owners find it's not worth their while to get the battery replaced, a bit like early generation iPhones.
But how about Citizen eco drive? Should be a concern for those too presumably?

Great tip, I will do that first! Thanks...

Yeah, I did that search myself... I'll try a couple of branches and see how I go...

I’ll try swing by the outlet store here in Swindon for you if I can. Will report back tomorrow.

Got one of these straps from Chinazon (Ebay) in the post today. Well worth the wait.
It’s double the thickness of a regular nato, and actually attaches as a normal strap so none of the loop under the case to make it taller on the wrist.

Thanks, it came via ejay.
Claim all the things.
I remember some time ago that watch on this thread and being really taken with it. Fortunately I’ve resisted it so far.
